Closing

Afternoon, folks! Mod Nat here with an important announcement to make. 

After witnessing recent activity trends in the group, and discussing with other mods, we have decided to close The Pelago Islands down... in a manner of speaking. As such, there won't be a check today. The previous one will be the last. 

All three of us mods have grown increasingly busy in our lives as of late, and have quite honestly lost the passion needed to run this group at its absolute best. While we will be taking a step back for those reasons, this is not the ultimate end of PI. There won't be any new events or plot developments on our end, but if you would like to continue writing in this setting and using it for your own purposes, you are free to remain in the server and RP Hub without the threat of being removed for insufficient activity. 

This group, while initially started by me and Tay, has very much grown into a collaborative effort between us and the writers who have come and gone over the years. It wouldn't sit well with us to take it away from you, especially not after all the investment and work so many of you have put into it! 

So if there are friends you have, or any interested parties you might know who would want to write a character here as well, feel free to invite them. Just message me, Mod Nat (if you don’t have my Discord, msg me @ragunyans on Twitter), first, and I'll be happy to give them access to the server if they need. We likely won’t be checking this blog much for the foreseeable future, so messages to the main will be highly discouraged.

This is a bit of a bittersweet development, but we truly thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for giving PI your all these past five years. It was amazing fun, and an incredibly good run! Know that if any of you ever want to speak with us, we're still a message away.

Update: Magic

Sup, homies. Mod Nat here, and ya girl is back at it with an update. We have created a new page detailing magic and how it works in this universe, as well as a tiny bit of lore relating to the Gods, races, and wizards/witches. This has been something that’s been planned for a while, and it is finally done!

Announcement: Little Dragons Cafe

Hello everyone!

So we’ve decided that upon release, we will begin accepting characters from the game Little Dragons Cafe, which is the newest game by the creator of the Story of Seasons series, Yasuhiro Wada! 

We will begin accepting reservations for any character from the game on the current release date, August 24th, 2018. Please note if the release date is changed, this date will also change.

New Location: Elysia

Hey everyone!

After Arcadia’s astounding victory at the Founding Celebration back in March, they won a new location: a floating island! And now, the Explorer’s Guild finally has finished Arcadia’s prize for winning the point competition: a floating island called Elysia!

Elysia is a floating island enchanted to always be within a two mile radius of Arcadia Island, and it drifts around depending on the wind and the weather. To access Elysia, you must go to an enchanted teleporter at the foot of Mt. Reinier. The teleporter will take you to Elysia in the matter of seconds!

Elysia was built out of the ruins of an island that was slowly sinking down into the ocean, and thus has plenty of nooks and crannies to explore while up on the island. The land is also as rich with rune energy as Arcadia is due to it being imbued with the power of a rune sphere!

Along with this new location, Arcadia has also received:

Three new business locations, all restricted to Elysia.

These business locations cannot be moved off of Elysia. If you want any of these business spots, you’re doing business up in the clouds and in the middle of some dank ass ruins.

The cost of starting a business on Elysia is 30,000G to start it up as the owner and boss! You are building everything from the ground up, after all!

A new line for the Foraging Minigame! 

This is a more limited line that can only be done by foraging exclusively on Elysia. 

This line does not change during the seasons. However, there is zero chance of finding stones, monster drops, and some other items this way.

Update: Cooking and Food

Yo, nerds! Mod Nat here with another minigame update, this time pertaining to the Cooking game.

I’ve made a few edits and changes, so if you’re someone whose interested in this game in particular (or might be, in the future), be sure to read up!

To start off, for the Cooking minigame especially:

The cooking recipe list has now been separated into several different categories (rice dishes, drinks, desserts, etc) as opposed to the singular recipe list from before. So now there’s much more variety, and use for ingredients!

The recipes not only have their usual prices associated with them, but now also have special effects and bonuses! These are mostly stat boosts, but there are also other effects to help turn the tide of battle, or with minigames.

Each dish, like before, are separated into categories of Small/Medium/Large, and -- also like before -- you can only cook dishes that correlate to what level of kitchen you have. 

Example: If you have a medium kitchen, you can only make dishes in the small and medium categories, not large.

Each category -- of Small, Medium and Large -- now have certain HP values associated with them, as well. Dishes cooked from the Small category will now heal 1 HP (2 rerolls) in minigames, the Medium category will heal 3 HP (6 rerolls) and the Large category will heal 5 HP (10 rerolls).

And now, for the Food system in general:

As you all might be aware, Food items can be used in the minigames, whether it be as another way to grant re-rolls, or remove options from Monster Taming.

But starting as of now, Food items will heal in one of three values: 1HP, 3HP or 5HP. To know what food heals for what, just refer to the Cooking minigame, if it’s something you’ve created/gotten from there.

If it’s a Food item that is purchased from a business, however, or is a raw ingredient found or grown in one of the other minigames... then it will automatically heal for 1HP, unless otherwise specified.

These are the number of re-rolls that will be granted with each value:

1HP: 2 re-rolls

3HP: 6 re-rolls

5HP: 10 re-rolls

Business owners who run establishments that sell food are free to apply HP values to their products if they want! As long as it is one of the values listed above.

Food can be used for minigames that don’t require tools, but don’t offer a way to re-roll either, such as Critter Catching or Foraging. They can also be used to replenish a character’s health in battles (does not apply to tournament battles).

As of now, only one Food item can be used in all minigames.

If you want to take Food items and use their stat boosting special effects on voyages, battles or during an rp, only one dish may be consumed at a time. Once you consume a dish, its special effects and stat boosts will be in place for the duration of the time it is being used (so within that voyage/battle/rp). 

If you decide to consume another dish during that time, then the effects of the new dish will overtake the previous one. Effects from multiple dishes cannot stack.

Update: Gun Additions

Hello, friends!

I, Mod Nat, come to you today with another update. It’s nothing too major, but we’re sure the Gunner class characters will appreciate this one!

A section for guns have now been added to the categories listed in the Forging minigame. And not just in one, but three different flavors! They are as follows:

Hand Guns - Exactly what it says on the tin. Guns that can be held in and used in one hand, such as pistols.

Long Guns - This one’s pretty self-explanatory, too! These guns are of a longer and heavier build, and used with both hands. This is where you’ll be finding the rifles and muskets and the like.

Dual Guns - And last but not least, dual wielded guns! These are just like the handguns, but with double the power. These are the guns for the cool kids. ;)

All three of these sections have been added to the game with their own recipe lists, so check it out when you get the time, and if you find yourself interested, go wild!

Discord RP and Activity || Update

Hello! Welcome to another edition of “We Put Update In Your Regularly Scheduled Group Yayyyyyyy.”

Today, our topic is on Discord RPs and how they count for activity. So before now, a Discord or Chatzy RP would only count towards one post in the activity check. This includes events, voyages, and various other threads done through other platforms. While this is primarily a Tumblr RP group and we wish to remain primarily based in Tumblr, we don’t want to punish those who spend a great deal of effort into these other RPs.

Upped Activity Based on Word Count:

So starting here forth, Discord or Chatzy RPs can be counted for more than one activity point based on the following:

The Discord or Chatzy RP must meet the word requirements below.

The Discord or Chatzy RP is not based on an AU via Field of Dreams, as it is basically a dream (Reflection Isle and Otherworldly Gate based RPs will qualify because characters are living through those events as an outsider).

You must have at least two Tumblr posts count for your check in order to qualify.

All Discord or Chatzy RPs that you wish to have approved for boosted activity must be sent to the main for a moderator to check the word count and make sure that there. Like. Isn’t a page filled with just the word potato written 10,000 times.

You may only have one Discord or Chatzy RP have boosted activity. For example, if you have two Discord threads approved for 3 points of activity in the span of one check, only one will count as 3 while the other will count as just 1 point for you, leaving you with only 4 points towards your activity check (not counting those 2 Tumblr posts you also need!).

So, basically, if you reach a certain word count, you can seek approval from the moderators. Submit your recording documents directly to the main, and we’ll post with how much it will count towards your activity and tag all participants (unless it is a group of 5 or over).

Wordcounts:

One Person Threads (aka Closed Posts): Will remain 1 activity point across the board, as it is basically fanfiction after a certain point.

Two Person Threads: 

7,500 Words or Over: Two Activity Points

10,000 Words or Over: Three Activity Points

Three Person Threads:

10,000 Words or Over: Two Activity Points

12,500 Words or Over: Three Activity Points

Four Person Threads:

12,500 Words or Over: Two Activity Points

15,000 Words or Over: Three Activity Points

Five Person Group or More: 

Because there is a lot of variability to large groups RPing, we will remain at a hard 1 activity point. This is primarily because we do not want people jumping into large groups and posting once only to nab that boosted activity, should a group hit a large word count. 

Moderators may boost activity for main event threads at their own personal discretion. But please move forward knowing that there is a very large chance that all events will only count for 1 activity point.

Please note that the moderators are able to change word count requirements or withhold boosted activity at their own discretion, with proper explanations be given to the group for why boosted activity was withheld.

This will go into effect after the Activity Check on February 3rd.

Voyage/Mission/Event Leveling and Inventory

Hey everyone! 

Here’s a very minor update regarding characters, particularly with their levelling, equipment, and inventory, and doing voyages, missions, and events.

Basically, from now on, when a character begins a voyage, goes on a mission, or participates in a stat or fighting-based event, their levels, equipment, and inventory will be locked in place for that event. So if your character scores some new equipment, levels up, or gets some more inventory (such as potions), those will not be able to count towards any event, voyage, or mission that they are currently on.

For voyages and missions, the lock will start at the posting of their full mission or of their island. So if you are Level 10 with one healing potion when you start the voyage or mission, that is what you’ll have for the entire voyage or mission.

For events, such as the current tournament, the lock will begin when the event starts.

You will still get the level ups, new equipment, and new inventory if you are under a sort of lock, but you will not be able to apply your new gains towards any of these voyages or events you are currently doing. 

So, for example, if you get an island and get some Healing Potions after the island has been posted, then you cannot use these Healing Potions towards your island voyage. The reasoning is because voyages and missions are done under the assumption that your character is already fully prepared to voyage or undertake a mission when you set out, and your character can’t go back and get more equipment or items once you set out (and, of course, they can’t suddenly have more battle experience mid-mission or voyage with a level up). And, of course, your character cannot conviniently be prepared for every single situation they may encounter on the sea. In addition, it’s always fun to see what characters will do when they realize they’re way in over their head!

For the current tournament, we’ll be going off the levels your characters had at the beginning of the tournament. So if you have a character who is Level 9 at the start of the tournament and levels up to Level 10 via a minigame, you’ll still be rolling as a Level 9 for the remainder of the tournament.
