Trades and Tea || Sherry & Violet

🦋 - Whenever her ridiculously busy schedule would allow it, Sherry would pay visits to an old friend. Violet was someone she’s known since her youth--- a kind and gentle woman, who the young mayor very much saw as a kindred spirit.

The two women would occasionally meet to catch up on new developments in their lives, and exchange gifts... mostly in the form of whatever new thing they grew in their gardens. For Sherry, it was usually fruits or tea, while Violet often liked to gift the most beautiful flowers.

Sherry finds herself wondering what sorts of flowers they’ll be this time, humming as she approaches Violet’s apartment. There was a basket full of freshly picked fruit and tea leaves hanging from her arm, sending off a lovely, fragrant aroma as she walked down the halls of the Ocarina Apartments.

As she steps up to Room E105, Sherry places a few light raps against the door.

mysterious ruins » violet & lily

Of all the strange things about Arcadia, perhaps one of the most interesting to Lily was the ruins that existed beneath the island. From her brief research, she’d found that not much was known about the Azuria Ruins, but that it was most likely left behind from an ancient civilisation. The mystery that surrounded their existence was enough to pique her interest, and she set out to explore early one morning. 

They were even more enchanting than she could have imagined, with some submerged in impossibly blue water and the rest covered with crawling vines and trees. Whoever had built them, they had well and truly been reclaimed by nature. But with any luck, the civilisation had left behind some hints for Lily to discover more about them. 

Firstly, she decided to wander the ruins to build an initial map in her head. She’d read that the various tunnels led to different places on the island, so it could be fun to map out those at a later date. But for now, she decided to stick with the main part of the ruins. 

As she turned a corner, she found that she wasn’t alone in this strange place. Another woman was wandering up ahead, not looking as though she was looking for anything in particular. Lily decided to catch up to her and see if she knew anything more about the ruins. Locals were often a much better source of information than whatever you could find in books and online.

“Excuse me?” she said as she came up behind the stranger. “Hi, sorry to bother you! I was just wondering if you knew anything at all about these ruins?”

Odette was neutral when it came to the fact Violet moved away. After all, she left for two years in favor of her career, too. The only difference was Odette came back and Violet? She was still pushing for independence. Odette was proud of her, of course. But she also knew Lily was deeply saddened by it. Not picking sides, Odette simply chooses to support the both of them and visits Violet whenever she can.

For today’s visit, she brought along some dishes she prepared specifically for her precious little sister: a big plate of Sauteed Broccoli and Spinach, and a box full of a dozen Strawberry Cupcakes! She didn’t expect the two of them to finish the cup cakes, but she figured she’d have people to share it.

“Violet? Vi?” Odette knocked at her younger sister’s apartment doors, glad she lived somewhere decent. “Your beautiful sister is here~♪” She giggled after that line, but suddenly feared Violet would think it was Lily who was there instead. Quickly, she clarifies, “It’s Odette!”

Break Time || Raguna & Violet

[✿] — After all that had gone on for the last month or so, Raguna was concerned about a few of his friends he hadn’t seen in a while. The dragon attack and subsequent fires had been devastating, and while he was comforted by the fact that no one he personally knew had gotten seriously hurt, he was still worried about the aftereffects.

Especially for a certain nurse, who he knew had probably been overworking herself like crazy lately.

So when he finds himself with some free time, he heads down to the Magnolia Clinic. It doesn’t take him long to spot Violet, and once he does, heads straight over to her. Raguna wasn’t the type to grab people and drag them away from what they were doing (more like he was the one usually getting dragged around), but he wasn’t planning on sitting around and letting Violet work herself to death, either.

“Hey,” He steps up to her desk with a smile, “It’s been a while, Violet. How’ve you been?”

𝓷ecessary 𝓭isruptions | violet & vishnal

✧ Vishnal reads, but not as much as he would like to-- work gets in the way of just about everything, but a busy mind is a happy one, in his opinion. That being said, he also doesn’t get to the library often-- it’s more of a rare treat for himself, much like everything else he does off-schedule.

✧ When he does go, though, he adapts to the environment quickly. He knows enough about the sacred law of libraries to know that you must remain quiet in them, no matter the cost. If you do, you’ll anger... the books? Maybe. Or the librarian. 

✧ But here’s a question: does the good will of being a butler bow down before the traditions of libraries? Because Vishnal does not know that.

✧ “Miss? Miss, you forgot something-!” He approaches a small woman’s retreating back, voice in an almost comically loud whisper. In his outstretched hand is one of the books she had with her, which had been left in her quick exit. Maybe she didn’t actually want to bring it, but he wants to be sure, alright?

✧ “... If you meant to forget it, though, that’s alright?”

𝒽𝑜𝓁𝓎 𝓈𝑜𝓃𝑔 | iris noire & violet

•｡ ❀ Iris Noire brushed her hand against the ancient stone of the shrine, sending shivers down her spine as she sensed the history of this monument. It still was bizarre that given how long she has roamed this planet, she held no recollection of dragons soaring across the skies - much less held on a pedestal of religious beliefs. Perhaps this was a story not passed down in her tribe - or possibly her other half knew? Questions with no clear answers, she discarded those interruptive thoughts as she focused on cleaning the dead leaves that scattered across the land - to respect the Dragon King, as well as present this place in an aesthetically pleasing way. 

Once her task was deemed satisfactory in her eyes, she paused to bask in the moonlight and listen to the spirits of the wind as a current rushed past her. She certainly admired this holy place on the island, for it appeared that her communication with the spirits was inordinately strong there. Within the moment of silence, her supple lips opened and out came a beautiful song - containing ancient dialect and pieces of words that she had forgotten some of. Timeless as it may be, memory is not always up to par.

Then, in the distance, her ears pricked towards the noise of footsteps clicking against the stone pathway leading to the shrine. Iris Noire concluded her melodic tune prematurely and headed towards the entrance to welcome the individual to the shrine, relaying her lecture that she learned when she applied for an employee position here. Much to her surprise, the person was not that much of a stranger - it was a fellow co-worker who was mainly here during the daylight hours. “Good evening,” she greeted the young woman. “What brings you here at this hour, Violet?”

A Little Help || Forte & Violet

Restless nights showed visibly on Forte’s face now, little bags taking up residence under her eyes. Some nights were okay, but they were few and far between. Facing death was one thing, actually dying was entirely different she felt. It had gotten a little better with time, now it was only most nights she saw the dragon when she closed her eyes. Or the sensation of floating, just on the brink of sleep, woke her up in a cold sweat. Even after everything life had thrown at her, throughout her childhood, and in the military, this was worse.

That morning, she lumbered through her house as she readied herself for the day. No morning run though, she had woken up too late for that. Besides, she was far too tired, and she knew it. Instead, she would be taking her day off to the Dragon Shrine. She had hope that something of the divine might bring her some small shred of comfort.

Not having gone often, she slowly made her way through town and eventually into the dragon shrine. A slight sense of ease swept over her, but it was fleeting. She took in the quiet, the peace, and settled into a good spot near one of the statues. Hands folded in her lap, she looked up.

For the first time in a long time, she felt lost. This was something she didn’t know how to cope with. Was there something she should have learned from it? Was she ever meant to recover from such an experience? A quiet whisper fell from her mouth, a desperate sadness hanging onto her words, “What am I supposed to do?”
