Mist nodded along as she listened. Sometimes, her dreams could be truly nonsensical. She delighted in telling them, but knew they had no grounding in reality. Other times… Well, other times it was different. She didn’t say it to the stranger, but Mist got the strong sense that her latest dream was the latter. And that, in truth was why she was bothered. She couldn’t remember a dream that may or may not be important in some way.
“Do you think nocturnal creatures are mysterious?” Mist asked. “Well, I guess it is a little bit of a mystery why they stay up all night instead of waking up with the rest of us. I mean, the sun is so bright, it must be hard to sleep with it shining in whatever chance you get. You must be pretty mysterious to ignore something like the sun.” Mist smiled, and then her eyes widened as the woman went on to say that… she understood what Mist meant.
“….!” Mist blinked, and then gave a wide grin. “Yes!” she said. “That’s exactly what it is. Evening- especially around twilight, or very late on a winter’s night… You can just feel things, you know?” She was a bit excited to have found someone who understood- so excited, she almost neglected to answer the woman’s question.
“Ah- My name is Mist! And you are?~”
•。 ❀ Little did the stranger realize that behind the supple lips that tugged upwards into a charming smirk were two fangs - a prominent and popular physical feature of vampires. Certainly, if she was to reveal them, then the human woman would understand that she was not simply another mysterious nocturnal creature; nevertheless, the epiphany that they were of different species would lead to further inquisitions about the ominous nature of a creature long believed to be mythical - a presumably evil character in fantasy novellas. Alas, this young woman was no ordinary individual - especially given the essence of spirits that radiated around her being, presenting her as the mysterious figure herself. Similar to that of a puzzle waiting to be pieced together.
“I believe that every creature is mysterious in their own way... even those whose waking hours are in the daylight.” Iris Noire answered, momentarily lowering her gaze to the leaves that drifted along the ground from the gentle breeze - sending a shiver down her spine. “Sometimes there are creatures who cannot survive when the sun is in the sky. Is it not mysterious to ignore the moon and the stars?” She paused. “... I suppose that is what makes life interesting, no? ♪“ The vampire playfully giggled, especially when their conversation transitioned to that of her conspicuous enthrallment that someone could empathize with her connection to the land - of another dimension, it could be.
“Indeed. The spirits of the land have much to say... we simply need to listen.” She delightfully smiled, bowing her head towards her friendly acquaintance as they exchanged formalities; although, she became apprehensive in disclosing the truth behind her name - needless to say, introducing herself to an unfamiliar stranger was something she has not done for what seemed like many, many years. “It is a pleasure to meet you, Mist. My name... is Iris. Iris Noire.”
