Why are there so many ties. Whhyyyy are there so many ties!!
You can make a dotted note if you want one-and-a-half lengths. You can make a longer note if you want double lengths! It’s extremely hard for me to learn this if you stick tied single-notes all over the place, what purpose does it even serve??
Over in another room some other student is playing Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin.
Guess I know what I want to learn next.
Should I post my new piano attempts or should I wait till next Wednesday (and record 9/10 mastery versions instead of 7/10 mastery (to replace the 5/10's that I posted a couple days ago) :?

Hm. Dates for recording were inaccurate, after opening my Voice Memos app again I saw that Eulogy for the Ego was recorded two and a half weeks ago but the others were a month ago. Nooot sure I’ve made so much improvement that I’m happy posting newer still-unpolished recordings now, but fishing for compliments got my mutuals to like the first attempts.
So! I'm posting my recordings from Wednesday.
After this set, I’m not posting these songs again until I hit the notes, dynamics, and tempo to my satisfaction.
This one should have sounded a lot better. It was the last one I played out of the three, and I hadn't warmed up on it like I did for "Lifelight." To add insult to injury after the lackluster performance, I forgot to say that this was "Quiet and Falling - In the Mirror" and just said it was "Quiet and Falling."
Anyway, I really like Celeste Piano Collections. It's been fun practicing so far, and I feel like there's more of a concrete way to measure my progress than just "I have learned a few more songs since last year" (not that I can really use that phrase with meaning, as I've only been back in the piano-playing game for around half a year). I can say I'm progressing through the book.
Well, with Lifelight I posted two videos, so I'll post two videos here. The piano arrangement, and the song it comes from. Scratch that, FOUR videos!! Because this one's a double-song.
Well! The votes 3 months ago (on a post tagged "piano runnerpost" if you want to find it) did ask for me to use my voice. Unfortunately, I've had a cold for the past couple of weeks, and also unfortunately, I've never practiced singing this song, only playing it. Frankly, it came out better than I expected it would. 5/10 because I think I can do better (but not soon - been plateau-ing on my piano skill recently).
Now, for previous songs I've usually posted a Youtube link to the official recording if there is one...but there isn't one for this arrangement. It really is the official one from Musescore, but it sounds somewhat similar to other arrangements, and...ok, I'm just posting a random piano arrangement along with the original not-piano-arrangement song.
Alright, it’s been a little over 3 months. Recording and posting my 5/10 quality attempts at playing the arrangements for the following songs: Lifelight by Hideki Sakamoto, River Flows In You by Yiruma, and Quiet and Falling by Lena Raine (arr. Trevor Alan Gomes).
Maybe I’ll improve a little more but I’ve kinda plateaued. Haven’t memorized them, at least not enough of the long ones to drop pages down to 4 so I don’t have to do any page-turning. So that’s the next milestone.
Anyway: the upcoming songs are BAD and INSUFFICIENTLY PRACTICED and RATED 5/10, all of them. Thusly, they are recorded on the squeaky piano on campus. Maybe in another few months they’ll be 7/10. And I’ll record them on a good piano.
