Anyone else really enjoying Picard on CBS? It's so good that sometimes I have to pause it just to talk about how good it is.

I don’t mean to make a big deal out of it, but writers out there - THIS is how you bring back a character. A loved one, one who represents so much. You don’t turn them from all they were or reinvent them for a new character. Picard is different, yes. And he’s disillusioned with Starfleet bc that whole situation has gotten worse, but even as he’s running (figuratively) from a mistake, he still has his values and his character is intact. One of my favorite parts of the episode is when he corrects the reporter for saying “Romulan lives” and he corrects her with “lives”. That’s the type of thing this character stands for and Starfleet no longer stands for. I expect the show to keep developing Picard as a character in his older age and to fill in gaps from the past, but I know now that they’re not going to rewrite the past or to make Picard into someone he’s not for the sake of new characters. Anyone working in genre film and shows right now - TAKE NOTES! It shouldn’t have to be something we say but it is.
