Filled up a large plastic bag full of trash in my neighborhood and then was promptly heartbroken to tell my daughter she couldn't splash in the creek because I didn't have a trash bag to clean up the broken glass and sneaker sole we found there.

We'll get there I guess. My next trash walk will be focusing on the creek specifically. I also have ideas for some posters to encourage people in my neighborhood to pick up litter when they see it.

Just trying to make my little corner of the world a nicer place to live. My kids WILL be able to splash in that creek.

Spring breaker goes viral for helping clean up Miami Beach

A Georgia man in Florida for spring break went against the grain last week by picking up after hundreds of rowdy fellow college students — and the good deed quickly went viral.

Joshua Caraway, 19, a freshman at the University of West Georgia, told news outlets he had come to Miami Beach on vacation with his friends, but that was no excuse to leave the place worse than he had found it.

“We need to keep the beach clean,” Caraway said. “Even though I’m on vacation, I still can help out.”

Trash Girl shares her eco tips; receives award
