Them: Sebastian may be supportive of the elfs, but he’s still bad, because he got angry, when Anders life was spared!!!!!

Also me: -thinks about all the people, who like me, like both Anders and Sebastian and would probably get dragged into that person’s personal whine-fest-
Me: Nah. Not worth it.
That being said: I stick to the comic-book canon, y’all.
According to Knight Errant Sebastian did not pull that piss-poor written man-pain stunt to wage war against Kirkwall. I still think the writers were desperate for drama-plot, when they wrote that line, because it didn’t make sense in DA2 canon and it still doesn’t make sense in DAI canon. So I stick with Knight Errant canon, where Sebastian simply returned home and struggles to be a good ruler for Starkhaven. That at least makes sense.
Forgive me, if I don’t go very much into detail this time, because I said that was enough salt on my blog and this is another topic I’m rather salty about. And I have spoken about it on my blog repeatedly and in detail in the past already. So let me sum it up as simple, as possible.
The reason for that, and why you find it odd (and I frustratingly ooc) is that the writers responsible for Sebastian's quest in DAI were - as often - too lazy to actually put some effort into researching realistic behavior of people dealing with traumatic experiences and simply went with what seemed the comfortable way out: They simply went with the fandoms already loudest decision to blatantly ignore most of his base character traits in order to successfully villify Sebastian.
In short: They basically went “Aw man, he will only appear in one or two table-missions at most! Why bother actually spending time on writing it in character? The fandom hates him anyway. Let’s simply make him a villain and satisfy them. Gives us probably the most cookie-points with the fans.”
Either that, or Bioware has truly some bad writers, of the kind that my editor back at the porn-mag would have snorted haughtily at.
Also, can we please stop behaving as if Anders is the prime-represantant of all mages? Like, if any critique is uttered against him, it’s always because the OP is a “Mage-hater” in general? Believe it, or not, one can be pro-mages and still be critical of what Anders does.

Like all companions in DA2 have some really irksome character-traits. That’s what makes them wholesome, real! No real person is 100% perfect, everyone has biases or views that are ‘problematic’. Even the companions of DA2.
Varric: Is very quick to form his opinion on and bias against people and hard to deter from that, when proven wrong.
Carver: Is impulsive and acts rash when he feels cornered.
Isabela: sunk an entire shipload of living elven slaves to escape capture herself once.
Aveline: Supported Meridith.
Sebastian: Has been raised and taught under Chantry propaganda.
Anders: Ignores both Merrils and Fenris trauma and backstory in favor of trying to win them for his plight.
Fenris: is heavily biased against mages
Merrill: decided to converse with and learn from a demon
Bethany: I’m sure, she has treats too, that others find irksome. I’m just not aware of any.
Because with a character, who through his whole character-development arch learns that his impulsive anger reaction are no good for him and who in the end of his character-arch decides that forgiveness and mercy are the only true path for him out of his pain and grief...
to give this kind of character a vengeance-regardless-of-consequences-end is of course so realistic and truly manly and yadda, yadda manpain....
yeah, I did say, that was enough salt. Let’s not poke this other bag any further.
So instead, a heartfelt ‘thank you’ o all those, who have told me, that they find the way I play Sebastian more realistic, or who’ve chosen to give his DLC a chance because of my interpretation if his character.
The funny thing is: When I started this blog, I was vastly infdifferent to this character. The only true reason to do this, was that after I playing his DLC, I was like: “Boy Howdy! That was some dilletantic writing, right there. Too bad, there were a lot of plot-points with interesting potential. What a waste! Wonder, if I could fix that?”
I gotta say something petty, about some folks, that started annoying me over at my artblogs now. I can already tell y’all it’s none of you guys, following me here. The folks, I’m talking about really only bother me over there. But I need to be petty about it right now, because it’s starting to blockade my painting-motivation. And if I can’t even paint during my manic episodes anymore, I can’t do creative shit at all then and that would suck big time. >T
Y’know, I’m willingly taking requsts over there, to improve my skill and some such. I also love to surprise some of you folks with drawings of things, you talked about, or things you like, or just your OCs, because I get that special kind of “friends reward feeling” whenever y’all are happy, that I painted smthg for y’all.
But I do get that nasty “I’m worth shit” feeling, whenever someone comes to me, pulls some generic and/or shallow compliments outa their ass, without even liking or better even reblogging the painting, they claim to find so great, all that only to engage me in a conversation, that can finally result in: “Hey! I got a great idea! How about you try paint [my fave/my fave ship/my OC/my interest] in that apinting style, I just complimented so excesivvley for you?”
Like, if you want free art, come up straight to me. I might even say “okay”, since I’m that kinda nice gramps. BUt don’t pretend to care for my other paintings, when you actually don’t give two cents about them, just to dig some favors from me. Especially not, when you’re being so not sublte about it! Because you won’t make me feel inclined to do that free-art-thingy for you, then. You only make me feel like I ain’t worth nothing, as an artist to you and that makes me feel even less wanting to paint anything for you!
Geez.
I love pampering my friends with free art/free writings/ free anything I can give really. BUt any shallow favor-digger, that comes my way and tries tofake themselves to a piece of that cake, is like a sledgehammer to my self-worth and confidence. pls don’t do that! Stop being fake around me and come up straight. I like that better. My ssense of self-worth can deal with that.
And yes, thanks to that kinda folks, being rather obnoxious all evening, I just lost loads of confidense in my current work-in-progress-painting and that sucks balls because it’s supposed to be a gift for someone. ûu Gonna keep painting anyway and hope my confidecne returns from war eventually. ;3;
