In December 2023, my family and I embarked on a cruise around the south island of New Zealand. We celebrated both Christmas and New Year's Eve aboad the Royal Carribean ship 'Ovation of the Seas'.

Our fourth port of call was Picton (Marlborough), where we once again hopped on another small boat to cruise through Queen Charlotte Sound.

We took a long winded detour to get back to Christchurch, we stopped at Nelson, Picton and Kaikōura. It was nice sightseeing and look around the South Island.

Anyway I was lucky enough to travel on the interislander back in March, I had forgotten how pretty the Marlborough Sound/Te Tauihu-o-te-Waka is. Missing that summer weather already.

The province’s police watchdog has cleared an officer who discharged an anti-riot weapon at a man who threatened to shoot at police at his home in Picton, Ont.

The investigation follows an incident that happened on July 23. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call at around 10:20 a.m. that an unidentified 66-year-old man, referred to as the complainant in the report, had fired his rifle a number of times on his property.

The report says the complainant instructed the caller to contact the OPP to say he would be “waiting for them outside.” According to the report, the caller mentioned the man had “mental health issues.”
