#Inktober (Piemro)

Decided to do Inktober this year! I got very excited by a lot of lists that people came up with this year, and even started planning for one of the lists (which I’ll do in future), but decided I really wanted to continue with my Piemro project.

I literally built an entire word generator in order to produce somewhat random character titles and picked out 31 of the ones that felt most Piemro-appropriate. xD

I’m sharing the list mostly so you can see what will be coming during October. Of course if anyone wants to use my list for inspiration, feel free! (Let me know, so I can see?) There are no ‘rules’ for it - I’ll be doing fantasy Greco-Egyptian styling with these prompts, but you aren’t limited to it at all. My health can be shady sometimes, particularly this time of year - so I can’t promise I’ll be posting daily or that I’ll complete by the 31st, but I will complete the list. Wish me luck!

Piemro Inktober - 6) The Temple Artist

It took me a lot of searching to dig up references of what Ancient Egyptian artist tools look like. What I went with isn’t quite what I saw, but then again, going with something more accurate than a basic paintbrush might have looked more confusing than accurate. (Plus, my Piemro isn’t meant to be historically accurate Ancient Egyptian.) It did surprise me a bit how few pictorial references I could find for the artists, though. Maybe I was just using the wrong search terms, but I tried dozens and most of the handful I found were modern drawings, not period. Next up: The Friendly Mystic

Piemro Inktober - 5) The Barefoot Mourner

The mourner was probably the one I’m most proud of so far. I don’t generally draw old people, but I think I did a pretty good job. I also think her body came out so much better than I pictured it in my head, which is pretty rare for me. Next up: The Temple Artist

Piemro Inktober - 11) The Spring Magician

I took rather shameless inspiration from the Tarot’s Magician for this one. Obviously, I didn’t go full on into it - I didn’t bother researching the Magician, I just went off of memory and incorporated Greco-Egyptian influences into it. For instance, he’s wearing a garland of Egyptian style lotuses.

Once you see it, it’s hard to unsee it... But the snakes look like they’re booping heads affectionately. I considered fixing it, but I thought it was cute and spring-appropriate, so I let it stay.

Piemro Inktober - 10) The Diligent Farmer

I feel like this farmer is more of a farmer-merchant than a field worker. She definitely has more of a city-dweller look to her. Took a very old sketch I did (a character concept for Menewsha that never got used) and fixed it up. This is a combo-breaker for my female/male split with the Piemro project so far, but I’m still aiming to be roughly equal or lean more towards male (just because I still have more sketches for female designs than male designs). Catching up with the days I missed through not feeling well, so it’s possible the next few days will each have multiple posts until I’m on schedule again.

Piemro Inktober - 3) The Palace Lioness

I considered taking this one much more literally, but since the first thing that occurred to me was some sort of fighter, a fighter she stays! Still running a bit behind, but I’m anticipating catching up once I hit the ones that already have sketches for. Old sketches, that will need some work, but faster than starting from scratch. xD; Next up: The Flower Covered Consort

Piemro Inktober - 2) The Jeweled Diva

I think this one will have more of an Egyptian flavor once the colors come in, but I’m still pretty happy with this one in terms of her design. Belatedly, I realize I could have gone for some neat Egyptian shoes and it would have helped a lot. ....Nah, still happy with it, even if it did take me two nights to ink it. Next up: The Palace Lioness

Piemro Inktober - 1) The Braided Traveler

This traveler is slightly outside of the aesthetic I usually go for with citizens of Piemro, but not so much with those who travel to Piemro or spend a lot of time with outsiders, so she’s clearly one of the two. :) I recorded my process from sketch to finished inks, but because I’ll be trying to learn how to use the video editing software, I probably won’t compile the videos of my Inktober pieces right away. (It may even be until Inktober is over.) Next up: The Jeweled Diva
