I found the Honeymoon cocktail in one of the first cocktail books I purchased when I got into making cocktails was the PDT Cocktail Book by Jim Meehan and Chris Gall. This book introduced me to a bunch of new cocktails, ingredients, liquors, and techniques.
When I first started making cocktails I didn't really understand why you should use a certain type of rum, bourbon or gin, books like the PDT book helped me understand some of the nuances and differences. The only way to understand is to try different cocktails or even the same cocktail but with a different spirit. There will be times when you get those ah-ha moments. I fell in love with the book and still reference it to this day. This is a book everyone should try.
Well... back to the cocktail. I will try almost any cocktail that has Benedictine or Orange Curacao, and the Honeymoon cocktail has both so this was a must try. This cocktail did not disappoint and it is a true sipper.
2 oz Laird's Apple Brandy
.5 oz Pierre Ferrand Orange Curaçao
Cut and juice a lemon and measure .5 ounce
Add ingredients to a shaker and shake with ice. Strain into glass over crushed ice.
