“Hello, space!” with Piface

Want to write something quick and easy on your shiny new Piface? We found different tutorials on the matter, each with a different set of errors preventing the Piface from working properly. But we have the solution!

Here’s what you need to do:

Write in your terminal:

#!/usr/bin/env python3

This will declare the encoding used for the program. Next, import Piface:

import pifacecad

Create Piface Control and Display object:

cad = pifacecad.PiFaceCAD()

Turn on the backlight:

cad.lcd.backlight_on()

Finally, insert your text:

cad.lcd.write(”Hello, space!”)

Run your newly created program in the terminal window, and the magic should appear on your Piface.
