One of my absolute favorite pages from the design sketchbook and the basis for the stunning ensemble Kurogane wore to his and Fai's wedding ceremony in Nihon:

Truthfully, this was something of a collaboration between Princess Tomoyo and myself. I did the design/pattern work, and she produced the outfits. She could have pulled it off on her own, I am sure (as she is very talented!), but I think she wanted to include me as well, for which I am very grateful! (Oh, how I wish I coukd travel between worlds!)

I had a jewelsmith in Piffle create the phoenix motif from fluorite stone (we can source it here a little more easily than in Nihon). I'm told Fai actually cried when he saw it.

Next time I'm in contact with the shopkeeper, I'm going to have to inquire about getting cameras off world if I can't go myself. I would have liked to have edited a video for them! They're all the rage these days, you know!

And here's the other half of the set. Don't they look lovely together? Something in-between traditionally masculine and feminine wedding clothes for Fai. He's told me he adores long sleeves (but that these were very heavy! (really not a surprise considering how many layers this is!)) The dragons were hand-embroidered. Quite a bit of work, but also a blast to design!

Are there any differences between you and the Tomoyo in Kurogane's Japan? Different hobbies? Beliefs? (Differentkindofwaysto teaseKurogane?

Oh, we're quite similar in many ways! Two peas in a multi-verse pod, you might say. We both love designing clothes and have sent each other notes and even fabrics across space/time. She's given me some rather interesting insights about cultural nuances in her country. It does take quite some time for Fuuma's courier service however, so our conversations are often on a delay.

I find it fascinating how different our worlds are: hers with magic and mine with technology. I have to admit lacking any magical powers does make me feel a bit inadequate, but I do have a PHD in robotics engineering and a BA in Fashion Design (and of course, run a very successful company that provides not only toys but essential technology for daily living to the general populace). Can you imagine if I couldn't show off the video of my darling Sakura-chan racing to adoring spectators? Video and television is a necessity!!

Kurogane is always a pleasure to have in Piffle! Though, Princess Tomoyo has known him since they were children and so they have a special relationship I can't hope to match. All she has to do is imply that he did something cringey as a teenager and he absolutely. loses. it.

It's hysterical.

I usually show him drone footage of him being unintentionally clumsy, cute, caring, etc. (He pretends not to care. We all know he cares). Or lately, I'll show him footage of Fai being handsome. Wind blowing through his hair, closeups of his charming (real) smile. He's very photogenic, you know. And Kurogane gets so flustered! It's great fun.

What are the best materials to make wedding clothes?

Oh goodness! There are so many! It honestly depends on the season, the location, and of course, the line of the dress. Silk is always a classic, of course. But it is expensive and if you know any clumsy brides (or grooms!) it doesn't wash well. Or at all. It's dry clean only! Please don't wash silk (unless you very much know what you are doing; I promise you do not)!! I'll cry!!!
