Lo Fidelity Allstars - Battleflag (feat. Pigeonhed)
Shawn Smith, Brad Singer, Seattle Stalwart, Dead at 53
Shawn Smith, the voice behind Brad who also recorded under the name Pigeonhed and with Satchel, has died, his bandmate Regan Hagar said on Facebook.
"With great sadness I have to inform you all of the passing of our wonderful friend Shawn Smith," Hagar wrote on Brad's page.
“Shawn has passed away peacefully in his sleep. He leaves us all with a cornucopia of his beautiful music, his beautiful message of oneness we all share. Share love, hug one another, say 'I love you' when you feel it. Plant a tree for Shawn everyone."
Smith was 53 and died April 5, the same date Kurt Cobain died 25 years earlier and on the 17th anniversary of Alice in Chains' Layne Staley's death.
"Seattle loses another great too soon," Mark Lanegan, late of Screaming Trees and Queens of the Stone Age, tweeted. "RIP Shawn Smith."
“Godspeed to our friend Shawn Smith,” Alice in Chains bassist Mike Inez wrote on Facebook. “One of the great Seattle voices. Rest in peace, Brotherman.
Brad released five albums between 1993 and 2012 and was working on new music, the Seattle Times reported. Bassist Andy Stoller, of Heart called one of the new songs, "Air That I Breathe," "stunning" and said: "I hope we can share Shawn's beautiful song soon.
"His loss is devastating," Stoller wrote on Facebook.
Tom Morello remembered Smith as a "great singer" and the Afghan Whigs, who worked with Smith over the years, also remembered the vocalist on Twitter.
"Goodbye, dear Shawn," they wrote. "Until we meet again."

May/2024🌗♓️Here is my daily reminder that I am still alive.
I really do not feel like writing, right now.
I am exhausted and I am tending to my many fucking wounds.
I might write something later, if I get some rest.
Pigeonhed - Battle Flag
Listening to some of Shawn Smith's work, and I am obsessed with Pigeonhed. Shawn was very versatile. He had the smooth R&B pipes!
This album came out just a couple months before Brad's Shame did! Totally different vibe.
When it comes to "the Seattle Sound," people really got caught up in the rock music scene, but Seattle had a flourishing music scene as a whole (and still does).
Pigeonhed - Battle Flag
American electronic Band ‘Pigeonhed’
Pigeonhed was formed in the early 1990s by singer/songwriter Shawn Smith and producer/multi-instrumentalist Dave Depper. The duo met while working at a Seattle recording studio, and they quickly bonded over their shared love of music.
They began making music together, and their debut album, The Full Sentence, was released in 1993. The album was a critical and commercial success, and it helped to put Pigeonhed on the map.
Their follow-up album, Flash Bulb Emergency, was released in 1995. The album was another critical and commercial success, and it solidified the place as one of the most unique and innovative bands of the 1990s.
There music is a mix of genres, including rock, hip-hop, and electronica. They have been described as "the missing link between the Beastie Boys and Pink Floyd."
Pigeonhed's music is innovative and ahead of its time. They are a band that is not afraid to experiment with new sounds and ideas. Their music is truly unique, and it is sure to stand the test of time.
