hello (fellow?) minecraft lore enthusiasts...
What do you guys think about the different colored piglins (by horde/biome) in MCL, versus all the piglins in MC and MCD? Especially in crimson forests where horde of the hunt piglins are purple, vanilla/mcd piglins are orange. Same thing with the hoglins. Why?
Piglin naming conventions
Piglin names are made up of three parts: the place of origin prefix, the public name, and the personal name.
The prefix is the first syllable of the name of the town they were born in. Someone who was born in the town Ghàk̨ḭ (lit. 'mountain') would have the place name prefix ghà-. If someone moves to a new town with an intention to stay there permanently--this usually happens because of a marriage--they add that place of origin prefix after the first one. The town Řeqhḭg̀ug (lit. 'soul soil', or 'light soil) would have the place name prefix r̂eq-. So if someone moved from Ghàk̨ḭ to Řeqhḭg̀ug, the first half of their first name would be Ghàr̂eq-.
The public name is how people are most often referred to in public spaces, especially by people they're familiar with. This includes coworkers, teachers, friends, family, etc. Personal names are often characteristics, such as Hik̨hṵ̀k ('skilled'), birth order, such as Kraghr̀i ('first'), nouns, such as Kkhḭqii (a diminutive of 'gold'), or of religious significance, such as Qegii (a diminutive of the piglin god Qegqeìr̂).
If someone's public name was Hik̨hṵ̀k, and their place name prefix was Ghàr̂eq-, their first name would be Ghàr̂eq-Hik̨hṵ̀k. This is the name they would use when introducing themself.
The personal name is never used in public places or with strangers. It is used only in private in the person's home. The people someone lives with would know this name, but it is also common to reveal it to close friends, lovers, and family who don't live in the same home. Many public names are also chosen for private names, although it's more likely to choose a name of religious significance for a personal name than a public name.
If someone's personal name was Qegii, and their first name was Ghàr̂eq-Hik̨hṵ̀k, their full name would be Ghàr̂eq-Hik̨hṵ̀k Qegii.
People who they've only known a little while would call them Hik̨hṵ̀k, or Ghàr̂eq-Hik̨hṵ̀k if it's a more formal situation. People who they're closer with, but not close with, such as work friends or teachers, would call them Hik̨hṵ̀k or a nickname like Hik̨hṵ̀kii. At home in private, family members would call them Qegii. In public, family members would call them Hik̨hṵ̀k or a more familiar diminutive nickname like Hik̨hii. The same would be true of their longtime-partner who doesn't live with them, or their closest friend from childhood, or their grandparent from a different town.
I was scared of the piglins at first. The nether is such an awful place, but it's where I find myself trapped, at least for now. I didn't make bases. I carried what I needed and nothing more. Existed off mushroom stew and the occasional pork chop from hoglins I managed to kill with lava. Miserable existence.
I guess it was stupidity as to why it took me so long to understand why the piglins kept getting mad at me. It was the gold, of course. Of course it was. It's such a terrible metal to work with, especially in the nether. It's so hot there the metal loses more durability than it does in the overworld. But I crafted a helmet of what gold I could wrangle, and once I put it on, the piglins smiled. I think I even saw them cheer when they saw me pass. Of course there were other hostile mobs around, but at least the piglins weren't trying to kill me.
I had other problems, like trying to find my way back home. I'd wandered too far, of course, and it's so easy to get turned around. How far was I from home, I didn't know. Didn't dare to find out, if I was honest. That would have brought reality into it. I was just lost and wandering and exploring, just to see what I could find.

No, no listen to me okay. Minecraft is so cool in terms of worldbuilding and lore. Not even when you start taking SMPs into account. Even when it’s Minecraft by itself it’s filled with so many opportunities to build onto what lore is already there. Take piglins for example: we know that they are intelligent, and that they exist on a level similar to villagers and pillagers. We know that they trade, and that they may have rankings. They build, and explore, and go on hunts. You can literally watch them celebrate a successful hunt in game. But there’s still so much grey area. That’s so cool to me! We can make observations and guess other things about their culture and habits! What is their language like? What do they consider to be valuable (gold, obviously)? What are their traditions?
Enderman, too! We know that the dragon controls them, and that by killing her, you free them. We know that they live in cities, End cities, where everything is three blocks high (perfect for their size). There are chests there, too. And inside of those chests is usually enchanted diamond armor. Which means that they know how to collect ore, craft, and enchant (enchanting makes sense, considering how the language looks so similar to the written Enderman language). But what about their customs? Habits? What’s valuable to them? They’re passive unless provoked (eye contact), which we know. We don’t have the ability/option to trade with them, like we can with Piglins (which is difficult, because of the player/Piglin language barrier), but do they trade among themselves? It’s so fascinating to me!!! Like seriously it’s so pog.
Piglins having gold armour instead of rings when they get married. They etch little symbols and designs into the armour to represent their new family like how Indian brides do with henna

"Beautiful piglin"-kai from minecraft
Oil painting by human artist Kai, depicting a piglin from the market place behind the red piglin castle, 1942, the piglin seems to be wearing a human made dress, gifted to the piglin possibly as a peace offering
