so this book i bought for $50 in 2006 is now worth $200
it's a book about ghosts and the paranormal from around 1850
(mines in better shape)
but the reason i got it isn't even just because it was an occult book (my special interest at the time). no i got it because of this
see those markings? my 11 year old cryptography (another special interest) obsessed brain i instantly recognized that as pigpen code. i didn't know it by heart so i went home from the antique book shop, got all of my birthday money i ever had and bought it so i could decode it.
here's the pig pen code.
so upon decoding it i was heartbroken to learn that it was gibberish:
HMWOOTMO
i chalked it up to the book cover just needing to look cool. but ever since then i've always wondered, if i just never cracked the code....
