Decided to update my pikmin oc and gave them a silly wraith form because why not hehe. Rover is pretty much thr same just a more muted teal hair color to reflect the wraith. The poison wraith is essentially like a water wraith and smoky progg combined, but it doesn't instantly kill pikmin just poisons them. They do leave behind a trail of poison which makes them hard to deal with if you don't have white pikmin

wanted to try to design a wraith based more on american myths and fears. cryptids are often shadowy, fleeting masses in the unknown wilderness.

there's also a lot of superstition about ghosts or entities that lurk in peripherals or dark corners

there but never wanting to be seen.

it's unknown if it's malevolent. it follows the captain around on the cave floor, observing. i think it would foster paranoia. it undoes item collection progress or rearranges when you aren't looking

would make for an interesting game of hide and seek, depending on who's doing the seeking.....

little bit more about my wraith oc (because people in the tags seemed to like it & that made me very happys)

i've been calling it the bubble wraith! it acts very curious and childlike, and doesn't seem to have the means or desire to attack pikmin directly, but it can steal pikmin from your group by ensnaring their leaves in some of the frothy pink bubbles that make up its body, putting the pikmin under its control

it can take the vague shape of most creatures, but it loves to mimic the captains. its even picked up a little bit of language (though stilted and in a garbly, alien voice) but all it talks about is wanting to "play" <:]

Hhhheeyyy so I'm back on the Pikmin fix.

Specifically, back to the Wraith AUs.

SO here are the designs I cooked for some shapeshifting Water and Plasm wraith AUs!

Obviously, with how old Pikmin is, this has definitely been done before, but I'd just like to put my own spin on it!

My idea for these two is their constant struggle to keep up their more human-like forms contradicts the monstrous forms they're most comfortable in.

Why they would even want to be human-like in the first place is up for interpretation but my thoughts were they'd want some form of connection, rather than isolating themselves.

The Waterwraith's design is heavily based on art depictions of Umibōzu, the Japanese yokai the wraith is actually based off of, while the Plasm Wraith is more simplistic and keeps to it's original design, yet it's ears resemble a Nyūdō.

The Plasm Wraith is more stable with its shapeshifting as it's demonstrated the ability to shapeshift in Pikmin 3. Though here its unable to change certain features like it's hole and it's core, which is always vulnerable.

The Waterwraith, on the other hand, is always unable to hold its shape and will fall apart within seconds if not held together. In it's partial form, the Water wraith has purple ripples along his form since they're unable to keep the transparent/dimensional form it's known for.

Both wraiths are more comfortable in the partial forms, but are always vulnerable unless they do their full form.

I decided to give Water a Bulbmin since they only appear in the Submerged Castle. It just felt right.

Plasm, though, is lowkey scared of Pikmin after the Koppaites happened.
