Oh god. I'm watching Fortysomething for the first time. I've only ever seen clips on YouTube from it of Capaldi as Pilfrey.
The character is a mix of hilarious, creepy and worrying. I've just finished episode Two and I know it gets worse 😆

Knight of Wands
Peter Capaldi as Ronnie Pilfrey in Fortysomething (TV series) (2003)
Even on a good day the Knight of Wands can be a bit much. He is eager to prove himself and rushes into situations that he shouldn’t, trying out opportunities that have yet to show value, changing things at the slightest hint of hope, his only consistent point is his concern for himself.
Just finished watching episode 3 of Fortysomething. I finally have some context!
I'd seen the video someone put on YouTube ages ago with the scene of Pilfrey talking to Estelle and behaving weirder and weirder as the scene goes on .
Now I know that he was doing all of the things Edwin wrote in the email pretending to be Estelle.
Lol, it was still mad as hell but it made much more sense with the context.
As nutty, creepy and morally bankrupt as the character was, I'm disappointed we didn't get more of him.
I'm still going to watch the rest of the series. It's a pretty enjoyable show as a whole. Sometimes the writing falls a little flat but there are still moments that catch me by surprise and make me laugh. Really like the dynamic of the sons. It's weird seeing such a young Cumberbatch.
Pilfrey
Hey Y'all! 😏 Check out my new Tucker Tuesday socks. Not high fashion, but definitely the right attitude to express my inner Malcolm with more than a bit of dorky core Pilfrey representing, as well!
Another anon writing in to say how much I appreciate your writing. I always get excited when you mention that you're working on something, and avidly read all of your stories. As someone who loves all PCap characters, I consider myself blessed that you are writing for our little niche. Thank you!
Bless you, nonny, and thank you! I am cheered up to hear from you all. And, to be honest, I’ve always had lovely comments from readers so I have always known that you’re out there and happily reading. PCap’s characters are a fabulous gift for any fan writer, in my opinion, and it is a joy to write them.
Even Ronnie Pilfrey.
