An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
In which the character of Parkes gets his canonical moment, albeit about four or five years earlier than perhaps canon had it. This is what happens when novels don't give you many miscellaneous characters who aren't members of a large self-involved family to use in your fic: you take a last name and a throwaway line about a house with a tower and a ruinous architect, and you give him a moustache, a cigarette habit and a good tobacconist, a club, a profession, and a little bit of a habit of breaking the hearts of many eligible young ladies.
Anyway, Parkes, Soames, and Irene go house-hunting.
“If voting did anything they would outlaw it.” Is such an insane take to me, because literally all of human politics for recorded history has centered around Outlawing the Vote.

Chapter 15: George is surprised. Cousin George makes his appearance. Parkes meets the woman who melted the Forsyte glacier. Two of Irene's friends from the Conservatoire. A less formal dinner. Port. A Mendelssohn showpiece. Carefully disguised character development. The usual.
I don't understand how tumblr link posts work. You press link. You paste link. You press the insert button. Ten percent of the time it replaces the URL with a preview card. The other ninety percent of the time it does not.
Seriously what.
Just two flatmates, freshly groomed and arm in arm, solving mysteries and humming a tune.
This is one of my favorite scenes from this show.
My favorite Victorian husbands 🥰
According to the kudos, there are 38 entire human beings who like "Nemesis" enough to have pressed a button saying so. This is about 36 more readers than I expected ever to have, so I am super happy.
Small fandoms! The victories are sized differently.
As returns to fandom go, not bad. 20 more chapters left to post. (I axed a chapter that was not pulling enough throughlines along to deserve living. It's a vicious business, editing is. Ink splattered everywhere. Shreds of paper stuck to the walls.) All are at least partially written now.
Facts
More people need to watch the 1967 BBC Forsyte Saga and understand that Soames is a woobie who needs to be loved.
Firm nod.
Go for it. It's got good actiing. Eric Porter is amazing. Nyree Dawn Porter is gorgeous. Kenneth More is adorable.
Plz to make tiny fandom lorger kthxbai.
