Why is the next series of Doctor Who called “season 1”?

I mean, I’m assuming it’s because they want to start fresh and really mark the line with this new era, but… I don’t see the need to change it? I’m not gonna cry about it I just want to know the reasoning behind it, do they think this will attract new viewers?

I just had a thought and no, I cannot elaborate on it nor can I explain why but:

WHY is every single adaptation of Phantom of the opera bad, except for the 1925 silent film and ALW's musical (not the movie, the broadway musical)... I've only seen 9 adaptations, there's alot more, but they are just SO. BAD.

It seems no one gets the tragedy of the character, they either make the phantom a killer monster machine because ? Idk just because, or either they explain he had a hard life and at some point some accident happens that deforms his face, wich that simply doesn't work, at all, the Phantom is the way he is because since the moment he was born he was despised, he lives the way he lives because the world pushed him that way.

One simple quote from the 1925 film explains it, it's so so simple, and yet film makers dont' get it

Context: the Phantom takes Christine to his lair, in fear, she screams "You- You are the Phantom!"

He replies:

"If I am the Phantom it is because man's hatred has made me so..."
