Need help with a spoonie project
Submitted by luminescent-nymph
Hello dear, was wondering if you could help me with a Spoonie/chronic illness project! If you could read through this and give me some of your thoughts and/or pass it along to your lovely spoonie followers, I would appreciate it so much!
Gunna write some angry spoonie poems!
Please send me analogies of your illness/struggles/frustrations in being chronically ill.
Disgustingly ignorant Abliest comments you’ve heard in real life.
Things you feel as though you need to cover up, downplay and hide. - how you do that- and why you feel as though you have to. (Emphasis on why you feel you have to)
The main things you feel on a daily basis/emotions that envelop you a majority of the time and perhaps why you feel that may be (either in terms of how your illness makes you feel or how others make you feel because of how they feel about your illness) for example- Anger, compassion, shame..
What you have to do, tricks, systems in place in your life, personal rules or practices that keep you from having perpetual mental breakdowns and being crushed under the weight of a chronic/terminal illness. Healthy or not, logical or not. Wether it even makes sense to you or you know it’s simply a bandaid solution. I wanna know, please.
Give me odd descriptions, visuals, a mental picture. Walk me through it in your world.
I want to portray this in an artistic form for myself but also for all people who, like me, struggle with being forever ill. I can write all the Agressive nonesense I want but it would mean more to me and hopefully to others if I could create it in a way that opens up and makes more room for relating. I don’t just wanna curse my body and scream at able bodied people. I want to take my pain and reach through this screen and hug you in your struggle as gently as you need.
Please help me spread and compile this! Send me this in messages! Anon or not, idc. Thanks lovely peoples!
I will keep those involved updated on when this Spoken word poem(s) is all ready and recorded and will be sure to try and credit you for your submissions!
