Prince Steven Harrington does not beg anyone for anything. He handles his own problems the way he was raised to: alone, silently, and quickly. But he can hear voices when no one is there and that’s definitely a problem that he’s gonna have to find some help with. He’s just not sure who can help him. “You should seek counsel!” Robin exclaims in a much-too-loud voice while she paces the floor. “Counsel? Are you mad ? The counsel would have my head on the stones of the castle dungeons before–” A knock on the door stops Steve from continuing. It’s much too late for guests. The only reason someone should be interrupting him in his chambers is if there’s an emergency. Robin’s looking at him like he’s lost his mind, and maybe he has. He is hearing voices, after all. “Are you finishing that sentence or am I supposed to read your mind?” Robin finally asks when Steve is just staring at the closed door to his room. “I’m going to get the door,” he says as he starts walking towards it. Robin’s hand is firm on his arm, stopping him dead in his tracks. He turns back to her to ask why she’s stopping him, but he’s met with wide eyes. She shakes her head once and suddenly he realizes why she looks so scared. It’s not because there’s an unexpected visitor to his room in the middle of the night. It’s because there isn’t.

Pinch hits are requests for artists to fill the spot of a participant who has to drop out due to unforeseen circumstances. A pinch hitter takes up the assignment in their place. They can be anyone from the community willing to take on the challenge. You do not currently have to be signed-up for the DABB to claim a pinch-hit.

You ever heard me talk about Yuletide? Yuletide is a big small-fandoms exchange, and it can be especially tricky to cover pinch hits when people's assignments need to be covered, because by default every fandom someone has signed up with is a small one. A pinch hit for Yuletide has to be a complete fic of 1k or more words, and the due date for the pinch hits currently is Friday 19 December at 9pm UTC.
If you are able to cover this assignment, you can claim the pinch hit by emailing [email protected]! They get a LOT of emails (over a 1200 people in the exchange), so you need to format your email very carefully. So the email has to:
Include the pinch hit number in the subject line (PH 121 in this case)
Include the recipient’s AO3 name in the subject line (serilly)
Include your AO3 username in the body of the email
The example they use is, if your AO3 username is yuletidehippo and you want to claim Pinch Hit #42 for AwsomRecip, you might email us with the subject line “PH 42 for AwsomRecip” and “I’m yuletidehippo on AO3” in the body of the email. If you don't get a reply, you didn't get the pinch hit!
This one has been lingering since yesterday cause there aren't as many MCYT pinch hitters in the pinch hitter pool for this exchange, so if you can take this you can really help out an event, and if you can't take it, reblogging this post can help put this pinch hit in front of someone who knows these fandoms!
