A photo study I did back then, of a pine plantation I visited in college (Forestry Major is pne of my titles). I recall this one taking absolutely forever, but i¿m very happy with it still. It was both a shape, volume and color study. I also remember how i used to pull the colors together with an overlappede texture... I really should go back to that.

And yeah, still alive. apologies for the abscence <3 Ii've been building a Zoology course with my girlfriend, which we'll be teaching all through September. that, and some work reasons have basically captured most of my available time.

I have spent over half of my life either attending or working at a Summer Camp in Upstate New York. The camp grounds have a very long history. One section of the woods has these tall, thin pine trees planted in perfect lines. They were once part of a tree farm to make furniture. The tall, thin, not exactly conventionally beautiful trees are what is left after the farm closed. These trees, not seen as beautiful, survived for hundreds of years to be loved by hundreds of kids. It is my favorite place on this entire Earth. I bed these trees never thought that small children and adults alike would play Narnia in their shadows. I used to think that nothing good could ever come in my future. But if a set of trees in the middle of nowhere Upstate New York were proven wrong about their future, why can't I?

I went driving around a forest preserve after that hike. One of the universities owns it, and it’s for research & harvesting the wood, but they let people hike & ride horses & hunt in it, with appropriate permits all around. I haven’t gotten a hiking permit yet, so I was just driving the gravel roads, getting a feel for the place. Looks like they maintain these pine areas with fire, which is a forest management technique I’m really interested in. Well, I think it’s great in a lot of ways, but what I really like is to watch things grow back afterwards. Here, it’s lots of really vigorous sweet gum trees!

It is in the safety of the trees' century old limbs Where I feel the most free. It's funny how some people find the woods to be scary, While they are where I feel the most at home. The pine trees sway and dance To a song written and played by the wind. I am blessed and lucky to be a mere audience member to this concert.
