also love that the second person Sweetie ever showed herself to was someone who probably looked/smelled a little like Virgil <3
this will probably come about in a later fluff oneshot so its low stakes spoiler but it also has to do with the interaction of sweeties and elliotts anomalies!
sweeties anomaly is surprisingly complex for a cat, in that its basically 'advanced adaptation to survive.' over the years as a street cat this has made her gradually more invisible (and adept at controlling it), with decent superhealing (though with extra aggressive scar tissue), and a mild ESP that alerts her to threats in much the way peter parkers spider sense works
(this also means she hasnt gotten anymore powerful since virgil took her home, which is good - the life of a stray cat is dangerous, and one who immediately adapts to defeat any threat to her life could get very out of hand very fast)
so not only does elliott smell a little like virgil, they smell inherently nonthreatening to her, like theyre furniture. because elliotts anomaly isnt just 'turn other anomalies off' its literally Null. Void. an antithesis to other anomalies so great they cant coexist in contact with them.
so elliott climbing the loop was like a virus you have no immunity to - just completely invisible, running around higgeldy piggeldy
its also why elliotts anomaly works sometimes when the other anomaly in question isnt even touching them - any action that results in another anomaly coming in contact with them just gets cancelled out.
