logans baring the burden of being the only member of their little team with a relatively normal and healthy childhood
i’m not sure if this question even makes sense, but if you were to rank everyone in terms of how powerful they are in ping verse, how would you do that?
the twins clear every other anomaly on the planet by orders of magnitude. their powers are capable of a feedback loop that can generate theoretically infinite power. it was a really, really good thing that remus got away before the peacekeepers could figure out how to properly weaponize them.
in terms of purely destructive ability, virgil and logan are probably tied, but logan's powers have more versatile positive uses as well. as logans mental health improves post defection, he starts having to siphon off the excess energy into various rechargeable batteries remus keeps for this purpose. logan joy is a renwable resource
Patton is probably next because his powers can be used in very versatile ways, but its also a lot subtler of an ability, not as flashy or impressive as logan virgil or the twins
and then either bottom or tied with patton is probably janus, because most of janus's power comes from his intellectual ability in using his powers, not the powers themselves. he can limited shapeshift some animals parts that give him an edge in a fight against a similate or a less flashy anomaly, but his power is mostly just 'can be any normal guy with some minor additions' which is the COOLEST power definitely (source: im trans) but not really the STRONGEST power
I'm currently into a series where one of the main characters has an anti-power power that works exactly like Elliot's. In that series it's insanely useful but has the huge drawback that helpful powers like healing don't work on him at all. It makes me curious how Elliot/Revenant's anomaly will work out in terms of using it in fights and things (if Virgil lets him within 1000ft of a fight ever again that is)
aint that the question - can virgil run the risk of not bringing them along and they resort to unsanctioned vigilante-ing without any of virgils safety nets or resources? woe be upon he who has to corral the teenager immune to being carried, his previous method for dealing with unruly teens aka harry
omg yeah the last anon reminded me id meant to send an ask about virgil just being like awful practically at fighting. he could kill someone with a flick of the wrist but also cant actually throw a punch at all. local op supervillain can kill 20 peacekeepers but cant win a fight against his baby sibling
YOU GET IT elliott could absolutely, overwhelmingly, soundly hand virgil his own ass. its great. especially because by the hallway in Somville they have 100% figured this out and Virgil somehow has not
Does Virgil have issues with thinking Janus and Remus don’t care about him as much as they do? I noticed there’s a line earlier in the fic when Janus is experiencing a flashback and Virgil thinks Janus can probably only see Remus and Harry and “apparently Virgil”. I was curious about the wording, possibly just me reading too much into it, but I know there’s quite often a worry in a alloromantic society, that friends are on a less important level than romantic partners, I was curious whether Virgil has struggled with that at all?
its not entirely the romance, the time theyve known each other is also a factor - but virgil does think that of the dark sides, if one person is getting axed its him, and that Remus and Janus who defected together have more loyalty/investment in the other than they do in him
meanwhile janus and remus are both like [walk into the room] our best friend virgil is coming and you all better cheer and clap for him or we're blowing this whole building up
i will say there is something unfortunately really funny about virgil spending months trying to micromanage the time loops on his own when all he needed to do to both get them all out alive and make the lights defect was pass out infront of them one (1) single time
Roman presented with a Wraith he can frantically convince himself is trying to trick him vs Roman presented with the immediate reality of handing a vulnerable unconscious Wraith to the Peacekeepers in the next five minutes does look very, very different
I'm sorry how did they figure out Virgil's blood is explosive?
virgil didnt find out until he started hanging out with remus, at which point he offered up samples as collateral/exchange for several conversations before remus realized this was not just Good Good Buddies Doing Science Together. Remus doesnt do experiments with virgil's body parts anymore
the peacekeepers have known since they first started testing his samples.
