You said in one of your posts you just learned how to do those “a softer world” edits, do you have a tutorial you can point to? Or would you mind talking about it a little?
uhhhh, I’m not sure I can do a great job of explaining it, but like. all I’m doing is using GIMP (which is free) to essentially upload the original comic strip (which I got from the asofterworld.com archives) into the program, and turn the different parts (the background, the frame, and the text) into different “layers”, which you do by selecting the sections you want to be their own layer with the “selection” tools and then using the “float” option in the select menu to pop that selection out as a new layer. once I’ve split all the parts up, I then hide the layer with the original background photos on it, so I have the transparent 3-box frame with floating text bars. go copy/save the photos I want from Getty Images Editorial section (put player name into search there, sort as needed, add keywords, go crazy, if you don’t want the wordmark save it from the menu instead of the opened image), crop them into squares in Windows Photos. resize those Getty squares to 219x219 pixels bc that’s the size of the original boxes (220 if you wanna round up), I use a free image resizer website to save time doing this. go back to my GIMP project, use “open as layer” from the file menu three times to add in each cropped resized photo as its own new layer. rearrange the layers so they are beneath the text and frame and all lined up. move text boxes around as desired (they will need to each be their own layer to do this). add my URL wordmark to bottom. check it all looks how I want. “export as” a PNG file with 0 compression. upload to tumblr with link to original strip, quote from the caption you get when you hover over the original strip on the website. make ppl cry. profit.
honestly tho GIMP has a lot of free tutorial information online, so if you open it up and just start fucking around, and google “how to do X in GIMP” anytime you can’t figure out how to make it do what you want, you will pretty easily find directions for how to do it. that’s what I did!
best I can give ya bc I don’t have the spoons for a full tutorial, hope this helps!

Back in the goodness knows when, we acquired a TV. A large wooden box with a small square of thick greyly opalescent glass set, centrally near the top with two black Bakelite nobs either side of a speaker. It was an exercise in faith because you needed a large dollop of unreasoning belief to consider the image that…
