Seeing a lot of animation fans and aspiring professionals being disheartened by recent conversations about the state and trajectory of our industry. However you’re feeling right now- disheartened, afraid, unmotivated- that’s how we have been feeling for the last few years. But those feelings will come and go. And I realize that as someone who is blessed to have been employed all this time, it might sound presumptuous, but even my peers and friends; whether employed, unemployed, or pivoted away from animation; all have one feeling in common. In spite of the bleakness and uncertainty, we continue to make art and tell stories, large scale or small, because it’s in our bones. Nothing will stop us from dreaming big.

The pendulum of the industry will eventually swing back, be it in two years or five or ten or as long as it needs to be. What’s important is that in the meantime we continue to inspire and share our art and existing art with others. The spirit of creativity is as old as humanity itself, and it sure as hell won’t die as easy as the streaming/ai bubble eventually will.
