White Quartz slid down the cliff, holding a few small green gems in her hand. She didn’t see the other gem standing below her, and nearly fell into them, instead falling to the ground.

“Oh! Hello,” she greeted, recognizing the other.

This coast and this ocean were entirely too familiar to her. Lapis had found herself on the Northeastern coast of Steven’s continent again, though she took care to keep at least a little distance between herself and Beach City... For now. She wanted to see Steven, her friend. But she didn’t want to deal with the other Crystal Gems right now.

So in the end, Lapis was close (painfully close!) - but still circumventing that familiar beach. She wasn’t in the most alert state - but a bright fluorescent pink splash against the drabness of humanity stood out to her a mile away. And honing in on it, she could feel it: Yep. That was a stranger Gem. Immediately her thoughts swerved back to the Crystal gems. They’d ALREADY recruited another Gem in her absence?! Memories and internal conflict made her a bit more bitter than the stranger deserved as they crossed paths.

Boredom. 

Isn’t it a funny thing? One could have control over an entire facility purpose built to create all kinds of wacky, weird and wonderful creations of Science and still be bored out of their morally void mind. 

One such entity was non other than the Queen Bee of Aperture Science. GLaDOS. All she had to entertain herself now were two idiotic Testing Androids who seemed to want nothing more than to cause GLaDOS as much irritation as robotically possible.

That was when external proximity alarms began to sound. The Central Core sighed with relief as now she actually had an excuse to shift her attention away from the idiotic androids to a monitor depicting the wheat fields surrounding a certain shed.

There, she spied a lone figure. 

Her interest was piqued and she simply began to observe from her inner sanctum.
