Pink Razors Cost More Than Blue Razors? FFS..
Here at Friction Free, we think it’s absolutely ridiculous that pink razors, and pink products in general, cost more than blue razors/ products. Why does it cost us girls more to shave our pins?! The so called Pink Tax, shows a baffling mark-up in pricing which sees women paying a hell of a lot more on the same products as men! Whether that’s T-shirts, pens, razors, designer perfume or even just shower gel. Shocking, isn’t it gals?
After a recent investigation found that the average price difference between men and women's products is around 36%, the debate has been thrust into public spotlight once more. We find it really hard to imagine, why a single-blade razor made by the same manufacturer should cost more to produce in pink than orange/blue?! It gets us angry just typing about it..
As we are Friction Free Shaving, we thought the fairest comparison of women paying more, would be the trusty good old disposable razor. For example, the typical blue disposable razor 10 pack costs around £4 (which is pretty cheap eh?). However, a 4 pack of pink razors from the same brand costs £4 (£1 each). Why oh why is there such a difference?!
But ladies, calm down, don’t worry! Thankfully, a petition has been launched, urging the executive vice president of Boots, Simon Roberts, to 'charge women fairly' when it comes to products that are so blady similar. The petition, which has already gained over 41,000 signatures, has a proposal that reads: 'Women already buy things that men don't have to buy, like make-up, hair products and tampons which are taxed as luxuries, plus women earn less than men on average across our lifetimes.' As great as this manifesto statement is, it does raise an important question. Instead of us gals paying more for pink, scented, beautifully-packaged versions of male-orientated products, should we bother buying them at all?
Luckily with FFS you don’t have to worry about it any more; head over to our website to check out our range of affordable women’s razors.
