Author’s Note: I will not bare any responsibility for this. At all. @katergator84 and @pinkuchama made me do. I was quite happy having a lie in in bed this morning and I got hit with this dare. 

Based on this thing. <--- so don’t blame me. 

And I will now remove myself from the fandom. 

Fandom: Miraculous Ladybug

The thing

“What the hell am I supposed to do with this?”

“Umm… I have—”

Frantic, Ladybug waved her hands at him. “No! You shut up, Chat Noir.” She poked him in the chest, hard. “This is your doing!”

“How? You’re the one who called it in.” The blasted cat had the gall to look scandalised. “What have you been thinking about, my lady?”

Ladybug went as red as her suit. “Nothing! Shut up!” Covering half her face with her hand, she peeked out her remaining eye at the… object… lying in the palm of her other. “Okay. Right. So. I wouldn’t have this if it wasn’t useful.”

“Like I said, I have an—”

She glowered at him. “I will never pat you again if you finish that sentence.”

Eyes wide, Chat Noir mimed zipping up his lips and throwing away the key.

Curling her hand into a fist, Ladybug bumped it against her forehead. “Think, think.” She glanced around, trying to figure out how it could be used, but the only thing showing up in red and spots was Chat Noir.

“Nope. Nope. Nope.”

Chat Noir raised a finger at her.

“Nope.”

He lowered his finger.

Stamping her foot in frustration, she screeched, “Why are you doing this to me?”

Come on, Marinette, I’ve given you everything you need, Tikki whispered. 

Eyes as wide as they could go, Ladybug glanced at Chat Noir again, only to have him flash red and spots. Haughty, she tossed the small packet to him. “Here. This must be yours then.”

Chat Noir, who had automatically cupped his hands to catch it, blanched. “What am I supposed to do with it?”

“You’re the boy!” she scolded. “Do the boy thing!”

“What?!” Chat Noir shrilled. “I am so not doing—”

The akuma, Marinette. Use it on—

“I am not using it on the akuma!”

Cat Noir’s face went ashen. “Well, I’m not using it on the akuma either!”

“You have to!” Ladybug said, suddenly gleeful. “You touched it last.”

He held out his hands. “Take it back.”

“Nope.”

Picking up the offending object with his index claw and thumb, he held it out to her. “Please?”

She danced away from him. “Nope.”

He gave chase. “That’s not fair, I didn’t sign up for this!”

She bolted. “Get that thing away from me!”

“Ladybug! Please!”

“Chat! Go away!”

“I don’t know what to do with this!”

“I’m not teaching you!”

“You know?!”

“Cucumber. Last year. My parents made me.”

“You’ve used this on a cucumber?!”

That’s how the akuma found them; Chat Noir chasing Ladybug across the rooftops, carrying a condom between his fingers and pleading with her while Ladybug hightailed it away as fast as she could. It proceeded to curl up in a ball and laughed until the akuma butterfly released itself in sheer frustration.

Somewhere in Paris, Hawkmoth face-palmed, complained about kids and gave up for the day. He needed a stiff drink and no Miraculous could cure the image burned into his head.

Elsewhere in Paris, Alya wrote a Ladyblog post about practicing safe sex and to follow the example of Paris’ heroes.

Chat Noir eventually got his pats.

And this writer promised never to do it again.

I think it's requisite to collect a bunch first, just push forward! Also, isn't a response at all a step above being ignored?

Ack, sent too early. Anyway, they're not easy I imagine, but I hope you don't take them as a reflection of your skills. So many of us love your work. <3 

Yeah, it’s a feather in my cap for sure. I don’t really mind, but I’d really love to at least submit the whole novel somewhere before they turn me down, rather than a partial. 

All the letters so far are basically “Sorry, not interested”. I don’t get any critique, or even personalisation in their response, (and one spelt my name wrong). It’s all a very generic “Thanks but no thanks”. Most of the time they only want to see the synopsis and (depending on the publisher) the first three chapters. One only wanted the blurb before they said no. It’s hard not to take that a little personally and not whine “But you didn’t even see the best parts!”

Starting to think it might be the first three chapters letting me down. Or something. I dunno. I need critique but everyone who’s read it has simply said “This is fantastic, when’s the book come out?” That’s great and all, but it doesn’t help me much beyond the ego boost. Even my father, who normally rips plot to shreds, didn’t have much to say.

S’okay. I’ll just keep submitting until I’ve exhausted either the agents/publishers or myself. =D
