Mull Highland Games
These BBQ Pork Skewers with Filipino BBQ Marinade are a delightful combination of sweet, savory, and tangy flavors. The pork is marinated in a flavorful sauce and grilled to perfection, making it a favorite Filipino street food. It's easy to prepare and perfect for your next barbecue party!
Ingredients: 1.5 lbs pork shoulder, cut into 1-inch cubes. 1/2 cup soy sauce. 1/2 cup banana ketchup or regular ketchup. 1/4 cup brown sugar. 3 cloves garlic, minced. 1 small onion, finely chopped. 1/4 cup calamansi juice or lime juice. 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper. Bamboo skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes.
Instructions: Add minced garlic, chopped onion, calamansi juice, ground black pepper, and brown sugar to a bowl. Mix with a spoon. To make the marinade, mix it well. Spread the pork cubes out in a shallow dish or a plastic bag that can be closed again. Pour the marinade over the pork. Close the bag or cover the dish, and put it in the fridge for at least two hours. For the best results, leave it there overnight. Warm up the grill over medium-high heat. To keep it from sticking, make sure it's clean and oiled. Place the pork cubes that have been marinated evenly on the soaked bamboo skewers. Put the pork skewers on a grill that has already been heated up. Cook for four to five minutes on each side, or until they are fully cooked and have a little char on them. While grilling, baste the skewers with the rest of the marinade. After the pork skewers are done cooking, take them off the grill and let them cool down for a few minutes. Grilled pork skewers with Filipino BBQ sauce should be served hot with steamed rice and sliced green onions on top. Enjoy your tasty pork skewers cooked in the Filipino style!
