@moonlitcomet Crown Piquet and his nonlethal degloving injury, feat. a tall, lean, and moderately conventionally attractive crown. Piquet is even moreso (but wrecked).

Crowns have a rigid structure encasing their vitals called the cuirass. It’s orange from iron presence. There are just short of enough blood vessels just outside of it on a crown like Piquet that being partially degloved isn’t an immediate death sentence. Some crowns may walk around in shock with exposed cuirasses like wasting deer.

PIQUET, IMPORTED THOROUGHBRED STALLION.

The property of Mr. Ben. Chaffey, Moorna, New South Wales.

Piquet was imported at the same time as that good horse Sea Prince. He is a fine individual, and I think there is a picture of him in this issue. He was walking about, being ridden, in the paddock at the last Caulfield Races. And he seemed a horse of a happy, equable disposition, as well as of sound constitution. The Cyllene horses are good. Don't be frightened of them. Piquet is of the best living line of Stockwell. And it is a blood which, I assure you, will never die. His dam is by St. Frusquin, a very great horse indeed, from Drill, by Chipendale, a Cesarewitch winner and a good one, out of Manoeuvre, a real good mare, by Lord Clifden out of Qui Vive, by Voltigeur.
