Uuummmm so so many actually but atm I keep thinking about the mechs raiding other space ships like actual pirates. I feel like it's never an idea I see get brought up much? Which is strange cause like. Space pirates. I think I've seen "explore abandoned looking crafts" and such tho so maybe it's more common than I think and I'm just missing something and this isn't even a headcanon but I love it so so so much.

Just the idea that they monitor any space ships within a certain radius of Aurora as she travels the inky depths, and if one is within range and piques their interest, they set up to attack. Less scavenging and more just attacking a random ship for fun and goods. Also the idea of a giant luxury cruise space ship full of rich snoody people and high quality goods coming within range of these guys and them getting soooo excited to go feral over it just sounds too funny to me. Been thinking about writing it cause I just really need to put an emphasis on pirates in the immortal space pirates.

          Caliondo was the only son of Eärendur and his wife Helwë. Caliondo grew into a strong naval commander, battling pirates from the mainland in defense of Númenor’s ever-expanding fleet of trade ships.           For years, he chased the fearsome Sea-serpent, a pirate queen known for striking fast and taking all the enemy crew hostage. Her true name was Gaerlin, though the Númenóreans fearfully whispered her title in Quenya: Lingwilócë. At last Caliondo surprised her and, after a pitched battle, took her captive himself.           On the journey to Númenor, where Lingwilócë would stand trial, Caliondo surprised himself by how much he liked the strong-willed pirate queen. She too was surprised at his kindness and charm, and by the time they arrived at the island, they had fallen in love. Caliondo married her in a ship-board ceremony, pleading for mercy for his wife in her trial, and she was pardoned so long as she remained with him and never returned to her pirating ways.           Gaerlin and Caliondo sailed the seas together, bringing more pirates to justice, though never in quite such a romantic way. They had one son, Malantur, who for a time was the heir to the throne of Númenor, but the law was changed to allow for Tar-Ancalimë to inherit instead. For this Malantur was grateful, as he, like his forebears, preferred a life on the sea.

Sea pirates, sky pirates, or space pirates? (Book recommendations for any of these are not required but would be delightful)

i WISH i had sky pirates to recommend! (well, there was Three Princes by Ramona Wheeler, but that was a disappointment and i can’t remember if there were actually…. pirates. or just sky boats)

anyway, space pirates are undeniably the Coolest of all of those but the only space pirate book i know of is The Abyss Surounds Us, which is high key on my TBR list, but i haven’t read it yet because i’m a mess

so that leaves good old sea pirates for book recs!

a great one is Red Seas Under Red Skies by Scott Lynch, the second book in the Gentleman Bastards sequence, but it’s worth reading the first book to get to because A. all three of the books are amazing and B. Captain Zamira Drakasha is a character you need in your life

The Reader by Traci Chee also had some great pirates in it, who are closely tied to the book’s theme of legends and stories and the need to be remembered after you’re gone that is just brilliant and heartbreaking. the book wasn’t a favorite all around but the pirates were definitely some of the best parts of it

there’s also a cute short story called The Call by Burgandi Rakoska about a pirate and her siren gf that you might want to check out for a short fluffy read
