HOW AN X MEN MOVIE TRILOGY COULD GO

First Movie:

Main plot inspired by the X-Men Evolution episode "X-Treme Measures", introducing the more sympathetic portrayal of the Morlocks.

The X-Men Team, having a dynamic of instructors and students mixing the team of Giant Size X Men, The Animated Series and X Men Evolution, is formed by teachers Storm, Wolverine (who is in a romantic relationship with Storm), Beast, Banshee, Forge, and Shiro Yoshida, and students Kitty Pride, Jubilee, Havock, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler and Spyke.

Team members past is briefly explored trough flashbacks.

The family of Mystique, Destiny and Rogue are allied to Magneto, who is one of the few people who can touch Rogue without her taking his life force away because of his powers, which he uses to help her loose her fears and gain control of her absorving abilities.

Rogue and Nightcrawler are siblings who love each other, yet have differing loyalties and don't want to choose between their mentors, and this complex dynamic mirrors that of Charles and Magneto.

The main plot is that Magneto is leading explosions of a factory of a sports drink (called Pow-R8 in Evolution, but it can receive another name in film) and the X Men led by Xavier go to fight him, thinking it as a crazy terrorist atack.

But they later learn that in actuallity, the sports drink is a poison against mutants and the factory is letting its waste fall in the sewers waters, which affects the Morlocks, mutants whose appearance can hardly be hidden from the public and so hide underground.

Magneto has taken then under their wing, encouraging them to hide no more and fight for liberation, starting by destroying the factories of the poisonous drink and its product.

He calls them out on the fact that they ignored the Morlocks plight and the attempts to appear respectable to humans, which caused the X Men in almost helping someone they tought as victim (executivos of the factories) on their own distruction.

The two groups part ways, and Charles Xavier and his X Men are left to reflect on their trials and mistake, while hoping to improve as they prepare to publicly denounce the sports drinks business for their polution, which will create a new enemy they will gladly take.

Second Movie:

While on the happy side the X Men watch the intimate and simple wedding of Storm and Wolverine, the downer side is the rising of the terrorist group Friends of Humanity in politics treatening the safety and well being of mutants.

Inspired by the Animated Series two part episode "Time Fugitives", The Friends of Humanity attack trough biological war by creating a plague that they blame the mutants for spreading.

Enter the mutant Gambit, a former thief who proposes a peace aliance between Magneto and Charles Xavier and offers himself as an expy to investigate the Friends of Humanity and the origin of the plague.

A romance starts to form between Gambit and Rogue.

In the climatic battle, Wolverine lets himself catch the plague so that mutants can develop anti-bodies against it, while the samples and formulas for the vírus are destroyed.

Third Movie:

Gambit has joined the X-Men, whom which Magneto and his followers also agreed to join forces in the fight for mutant rights.

The main tread are the warrying forces of Mister Sinister and Apocalypse.

Mister Sinister starts kidnapping mutants to fuse their powers so as to create the ultimate weapon against Apocalypse.

While Apocalypse turns Destiny, Mystique, Magneto and Charles Xavier into his Knights.

So now the heros must resist their objetification into weapons made by Mister Sinister, and stop Apocalypse's destruction of the World, and the key to solve this situation may be on Rogue's absorving powers...

As for the Dark Phoenix Saga?

Please don't ever try to do it on film.

Alternative Godzilla Anime: A Bunch of Ideas

As a lover of Godzilla and animation, I was thoroughly disappointed by the Anime Trilogy, so I decided to come up with my own Alternative Godzilla Anime: story ideas about the king that would better lend themselves to animation and that would just plain be more enjoyable to watch. For now it's just a pet project, but if I really like one, I might turn it into a full-on fanfiction. However, I can't make up my mind and pick one, and there's no way I can adapt them all (besides this, I'm also working on an Invader Zim fanfic, my own original story(ies), and my gap year). So, I'm gonna list em' off and you guys can tell which ones you think sound the most interesting! Here we go:

-Monster Revolution GODZILLION: A dystopian post-apocalyptic action series set in 2054. A century long war with kaiju has left humankind on the brink of extinction, hiding in capital cities converted to futuristic castle towns for protection. Would follow a team of soliders and scientists working for an international anti-kaiju organization, as well as the civilians and wanderers they meet. Their mission is destroy all monsters, including the legendary Godzillla. But to do so, they must uncover the secrets of the kaiju, as well as their own organization in the process, and doing so may mean they have to work with the king of the monsters himself.

-My Super-Electronic Robot Hero Friend Jet Jaguar: An action-comedy and a parody of sorts starring everyone's favourite size-shifting robot. Would follow the unlikely misadventures of Jet Jaguar and his unusual family of geniuses and comic relief as they fight to protect our planet from bizarre kaiju, undersea seperatists, sharp-dressed space invaders, and everyday life in a strange but familiar Japan. Godzilla would appear as a recurring character, but he'd be more of a reluctant hero like Ghidorah, The Three-Headed Monster than in vs. Megalon. Would also feature cheesy self-aware dialogue, screwball situations, incredibly iffy feats of science, and an underlying critique of our overdependance technology happy family-man robot fun!

-I Am Godzilla/Gojira-san: A simple slice of life comedy looking at the everyday lives of Godzilla and his kaiju castmates. The kaiju would all be faithful carictures of themselves (e.g. Godzilla's like a grouchy old man, Mothra has mom tendencies but is also quite irritable, Ghidorah's a loon who ruins everything, etc.) There'd also be a smol small human cast who really just exist to annoy the monsters and cause them problems. Would basically be like looking at human society from a kaiju's perspective. (That or Aggretsuko meets the Yamadas with Godzilla characters.)

-Soul of Gojira/Godzilla: Legend of the Monsters: A Hayao Miyazki-inspired retelling of the original Gojira. Here, Godzilla is not just a mutated monster named after a Shinto deity. He IS a Shinto deity mutated in a hideous monster by the fires and wreckage of the Pacific War. Would also focus on Dr. Serizawa's story, how he became the man that we know him to be, as well as the relationships between the other main characters, and the people affected by Godzilla's attacks. There'd probably be changes to the plot given the more fantastical angle, but I'd try to keep it as close to the message and spirit of the original as possible.

-Just Us and Godzilla (or The Summer of Monsters): A mashup of coming-age dramedy and kaiju action in the style of the one and only Masaaki Yuasa. It's set in a world where Godzilla and other kaiju attacks are just a fact of life like most natural disasters and life is about the same. Would be about a bunch of college kids who try to salvage their summer vacation plans after Godzilla shows up angrier than ever. At first they try to just steer clear of his path, ignore him, and carry on with their lives. But as other monsters keep popping up and the damage piles up, they realize that there are problems that have become too big to ignore. Things get worse when they find themselves divided on whether or not they want to keep running or do what they can to help solve the monster problem before it gets worse. Not helping is that they also have to deal with other jeuvenile delinquents, naysaying adults, ignorant politicians, and mysterious "out-of-towners".

-The Dapper Critter’s Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters (Name not final): It's a fixfic, nuff' said. The gist of this is to take the ideas from the trilogy I liked and then infuse them with what I would have liked to see (i.e. hit with a Ghibli-brand hammer); my main goals are to overhaul the setting and cast, taking the basic story ideas and making them into a more fulfilling, creative story, and making Haruo a more effective, sympathetic character. What I've got so far, is to make Maina and Miana the main characters and tell the story from their perspective. Haruo and the crew of the Aratrum still appear but they are outsiders, who have come seeking a lost superweapon to take back the Earth from the kaiju. This worries the twins and the other Houtua, who have learned to coexist with the monsters--albeit at the bottom of the food chain--that their warpath will cause another great catastrophe. And sure enough, after killing one Godzilla, they awaken another, throwing the planet's savage ecosystem into chaos. The twins take it upon themselves to help the time-displaced travelers while also stopping them from causing any more damage: Maina investigating the mysteries of the Aratrum crew and their true intentions, while Miana tries to help Haruo overcome his grief and learn to forgive Godzilla.

And that's all I got. So what do you think? I am open to questions.

Last Wednesday a friend passed along a TikTok video that featured some crazy new tech. I won't tell you which one it is 'cause there's always crazy new tech.

Take your pick.

The difference about this particular crazy new tech is that it lit up specific ideas for using it in a professional environment. One of my professional environments. Most importantly, it was immediately obvious to me how to pitch this to a client.

Not twenty four hours go by and I'm talking to a producer. The discussion lights up more ideas and possibilities including one out of the box idea that involves costume and special effects make-up.

Coupla hours later I'm talking to my boss, lighting his brain on fire because he too sees possibilities and opportunities and sounds like he's ready to take this new tech out for a trial run... which is the next step regardless.of where we go with this.

Me, I'm now thinking about the profile of the kind of client for whom we would package a service crafted around this tech. There's definitely a lot of questions. Definitely a lot of variables.

The point I'm underlining, though, has nothing to do with crazy new tech or even business opportunities.

It has to do with ideas...

And how to feed them.

Friend of mine sent me a TikTok video that lit up my brain and I marinated those thoughts on my own for a while. Then I talked to a producer who broadened my thinking and inspired more thoughts, more possibilities, more opportunities. And then I spoke with my boss for a pretty lengthy deep dive into how we would use this tech, why we would use this tech, and who we'd pitch it to.

My point is the care and feeding of ideas. Because I didn't have a fully developed idea when I saw the video... I don't have a fully developed idea now.

I do have a better one, though. One that's fleshed out. One that bears more variables and possibilities.

Eventually the process becomes one of narrowing, of crafting something strategic.

At the start, though?

It's about getting every variable on the table and thinking about how each connects with others and what your place in that network is.

No idea, by the way, what's to become of my current mental fishing expedition. What I will say is that even if my efforts come to naught in either the short-term or the long-term, the mental exercise itself is good one for me 'cause ideas and how they connect are my thing.

So...

Does the exercise work?

Well, all I can tell you is that when I was still in school taking a business class, the teacher ran us through a similar exercise involving particular types of companies, how they could work together, and what they might achieve.

I was clueless, by the way. And came up with exactly nothing.

I had nothing while other students managed to come up with pretty slick ideas. Not sure how they came up with those ideas but for me, right now...

Mental exercises make them happen.

“How to pitch a brilliant idea”

This gave me an eye-opening fact. Those who want out of the box ideas always put pitchers into a box!  As a leader responsible for both selling and buying ideas, I found it important to understand the tendency of catchers to rely on stereotypes.

When I prepare for presentations, I normally focus on what audience is interested in most or how I can deliver key messages appropriately, but I realized I need 2 more perspectives, 3 successful creative stereotypes and the catcher’s tendency.     

I believe an innovative idea isn’t an innovation until it is implemented. Putting ideas into implementation requires many steps and pitching ideas is one of most important processes because innovation normally needs funding, team formation and official acknowledgment, which are provided through an approval process of pitching. 

I have learnt a lot about “innovation” as a pillar of Sloan Fellows Program. I had many opportunities to listen to innovators’ and entrepreneur’s presentation, but nobody told about this. Creating innovative ideas is critical and managing processes to develop businesses is important. But I think nothing would happen if ideas are not delivered appropriately to those who support the ideas.

I think I can be someone between the artist and the neophyte. So I will write down a phrase “be creative like the artist and be an eager learner like the neophyte in pitching ideas” on my innovation note.

I’m considering starting a series involving the Des Div 6 raising a very smol shrimp i-class. I might ditch the panel-by-panel thing i do for most other comics and do actual panel work. It might take awhile, so I’ll probably try to start in during break.
