Hello, Tofu! If I am mistaken, then please ignore me, but I think you once said you were willing to make pixel art tutorials? If so, may I ask for one with clouds?
The way you draw landscapes is simply breathtaking, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't look up to you as a beginner pixel artist! I look at your art in awe and genuinely hope to one day make a piece as beautiful as yours ˆˆ
If you're not making any tutorials, then please ignore me, but do know that I love your art :-)
Have a nice day/evening/night!
wahh thank you!! i will think about it but honestly i dont think you need another tutorial other than the one jubilee @8pxl made here, this is basically the gold standard lol and most people including me just do her style ... if you want another style lmk!
but i did do some clouds studies years ago which i found quite valuable, if you really want to learn i think that can be a great place to start, and also learn more about all the different types!
How long have you been doing pixel art? For absolute art beginners, do you think it's better to master traditional drawing and fundamentals before dipping into pixel art, or does it not matter if you start by doing only pixel art?
almost 10 years now, and no absoluely not! if you wait until you feel you've mastered art you will probably never start!! i was really not a good artist when i started. just learn along the way doing things that you like, its way easier if it's something you actually enjoy doing
also, just plugging my super awesome pixel art guide for beginners......
So you want to learn pixel art? A guide by tofupixel :-3 Part 1 of ??? - The Basics! Hello, my name is Tofu and I'm a professional pixel ar
I just read through your pinned post and now I'm compelled to ask how you do your pixel style in Clip Studio? correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's SO COOL how you're able to achieve that style on a larger canvas LOL!! I've tried to mess around with my brush settings but for some reason I can never get it to be sharp enough haha
Ho hooo! I can help you with that!!
Pixel Art in Clip Studio Guide
Create your canvas! The trick is you need to work on a REALLY SMALL canvas to get a pixelated look. A 3DS screen is 320x240 pixels, so I make my canvas this size. If you need bigger pixels, work on an even smaller canvas!
1. Change your unit to pixels
2. Type in your canvas size
3. Click OK
Now we need to tell our brushes to keep their hard edges. I just change this on my pen and eraser because I don’t use much else when creating pixel art.
4. Click on your tool
5. Choose Tool Property
6. Choose the first setting under Anti-Aliasing
Proceed to draw whatever you like!! Blue volunteered, I swear!
Once you’re done we’ll need to export the art. There’s a few settings we’ll need to change, otherwise your pixels will be blurry like this:
Our device screens try to help terribly small images look better by smoothing out the pixels. There’s just not enough pixels for the screen to show you the image correctly. So we’ll add more!
7. Click Edit
8. Click Change Image Resolution
We’ll be scaling the image up! The goal is to get your pixel dimensions up to around 1000 pixels since that’s plenty of pixels for your modern screen to work with.
9. Change your scale (I stick with even numbers and typically go with 4. If you work on a smaller canvas, you’ll definitely need a higher number.)
10. Choose Hard Edges (nearest neighbor) for your interpolation method. (I can explain this in detail to those interested)
11. Click OK
Now you’re good to go to export your pixel art! You’ll be able to tell by checking your canvas size by your file name. You’re free to export your image how ever you like!
Ibis Paint X - pixel art settings. How to set up Ibis Paint for pixelart.
Find brush called "Digital Pen" and set it to 1 pixel thickness and 100% opacity. In top right corner, fifth from right to left, open the tab. Flip on "Grid" switch. Go to "Grid settings", set "Grid 1 Interval" to 1 pixel. And "Grid 2 Interval" to 0 pixel / OFF. Confirm your settings. Set your canvas size to any common pixel size, like 16x16, 32x32, 64x64 or any custom size (99x56 is for stamps). Congratulations, you have pixelart on Ibis. If you already knew this, good job. I learned this today.
Hello there, I wanted to know if there's any videos or tutorials you would recommend for someone wanting to get into pixel art. I'm not really sure where to start and feeling a bit overwhelmed, but it looks like a lot of fun and I'd like to learn some basics if you could point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance!
i have a write-up here of lots of advice / resources with basically everything i did to get to where i am
but the short of it, i recommend youtubers: mortmort, brandon james greer, adamcyounis
other than that look at studiominiboss tutorials for specific things if you get stuck
