hanamaki was there for the phone call. like he usually is. and when this happens, he’s once again reminded of how lucky he is to be blessed with a calm and easygoing nature. because if it were anyone else — say oikawa or iwaizumi — then you wouldn’t have the space you needed to breathe. 

don’t get him wrong, this kind of thing frustrates him to no end. the phone calls always end up the same, yet there seems to be always something more to say on the topic and the nagging and pressure just never eases up on you. 

and in the end, you get hurt. a lot. 

and makki hates that. very much.

and ever the realist, he won’t shy away from negative feelings nor will he aggrandize things. he simply treats it as another aspect of being your partner, a gratitude for your trust and vulnerability. he’s similarly placed his own in you as well. 

taking your phone out of your hand, he replaces it with a warm cup of water. 

when you feel the deepen between your brows and the stitches in your breath, makki sighs. “c’mon, babe. drink some water. atta girl.”

once you’ve taken a sip, and a little more under his playfully stern frown, he takes the weighty mug out of your hand and pulls you into his lap. 

“i know you’re good enough,” he brings you into his neck, resting his head on yours with a firm squeeze of your arms. “we’re not gonna focus on them, we’re gonna focus on you, yeah?”

frown uncurling a little at the low rumblings of his voice against your skin, you slowly nod.

“and we’re gonna take things slow,” the lightness of a summer skipping stone flows deeper into his voice, and you feel the coolness of trickling stream against your forehead. “first, let’s get you some dessert.”

Kuroo winces as a particularly sharp thorn he'd neglected to trim properly pierces his skin, and quickly brings his finger to his mouth to stop the bleeding.

He's been fiddling with this flower crown for possibly an hour, slumped in a chair and humming quietly. His sad countenance doesn't match the fact that he's impeccably dressed, possibly the most handsome he's ever been in his life.

It is his wedding day, after all.

At least, it would have been, if you'd shown up.

"Let's go, Kuroo."

Kenma doesn't apologize or offer any additional words of comfort, and Kuroo prefers it this way. There's no way to say sorry they both broke your heart and humiliated you in front of your family and friends so it is better to say nothing.

But he's been sitting there, entirely too long, playing dejectedly with the flower crown he'd made you himself for the reception, and ignoring the letter you'd left him as though it made up for the fact that you'd refused to be at the altar with him.

Kenma considers speaking up, but when he sees the wordless tears Kuroo can no longer hold back, he pauses again, and steps closer.

He places a hand on his shoulder, and Kuroo lets out a loud sob.

He can't water the crown with his sadness.

i paint/draw a lot and he’s my favorite thing to draw but he gets self-conscious when i use him as a model

he’s not big on pda so we don’t hold hands much but since my love language is physical touch u can catch him touching my elbow or waist when we’re talking in public or resting his hand on my thigh when we’re sitting or lightly squeezing my shoulder when he passes by me

when i get excited about something i canNOT shut the fuck up and sometimes he loves to just sit and listen to me be passionate

he talks about how much he misses volleyball so we try to go to bokuto’s games as often as we can

we have a whole foot of height difference between us, so sometimes he picks me up when we kiss so he doesn't have to bend so far down BYEEEE
