New Ref for Pixie! Toothy baby <3

1. How does your character sleep? Peacefully, fitfully? What position do they sleep in? What is their typical bedding like?

Thuyet is very much a ‘running on 4 hours’ kinda guy. He has a hard time falling asleep in the first place because his brain won’t shut up and his shoulders (and occasionally hip) are often bothering him, and he tends to be a rather light sleeper. He usually sleeps sorta half-curled with Nebula and Contessa around him at least (and often more of the team), and sleeps better with Neb acting as a living hot water bottle and Contessa giving him a light Aromatherapy. And his bedding is a mess - he’s absolutely a nest-type sleeper.

27. How flexible is your oc? Can they touch their toes or do they have trouble just sitting down because of how stiff they are?

Very! Dusty’s a martial artist after all, and while power is his his most obvious trait he does keep flexible. He can definitely touch his toes, and can get his palms on the ground bending over backward too. (Though he will jokingly point out he doesn’t exactly have far to go there.) There is a little stiffness around one shoulder from an old injury, but it doesn’t hold him up much.

40.  Are there any habits your oc has picked up from people around them? Do they know where they’re from? Does your oc try to stop themselves from doing it?

Pixie has a tendency to fiddle with her teeth the same way Malthak fiddles with the silk glands around his mouth, she picked up pacing from Sonic (though she tends to do it in the air), and I feel like she probably moves her antennae in a similar way to how Tails moves his ears when thinking. She has no idea she does any of this - self-awareness is not one of her strengths in the first place, and they’re pretty subconscious habits!

This volume’s theme was Origins, so I went with a version of Pixie and Tails’ first meeting - both delighted with a new Flight Friend their own age!

10. How is your oc about medical care? Do they avoid any form of healthcare that they can, do they seek it out over every little scrape? Do they treat their injuries/illness all by themselves?

Pixie’s not used to having access to medical care other than Malthak patching her up, so it genuinely doesn’t occur to her to do anything but go to him! She does not have his habit of hiding out when injured, though, and could be easily convinced to go to a doctor.

On the other hand, she would NOT be very good at following ‘rest and recuperate’ orders.

OC Development Questions

More work scribbles!! I want to do more with characters interacting as well as being less fretful about how something is turning out, and ballpoint helps with both. So random interactions between Dusty and @kismeti 's Ricochet (pre-mission photo and I feel they have similar owo energy), Kara with @pidgeonspen 's Ileana (both raised to be the Perfect Soldier to the detriment of everything else), and Pixie with @sege-h 's Storm (...she thinks he's neat and he wants to know Whose Kid This Is).

All three of these characters have great designs and I want to draw more sonics, so *jazz hands*

It’s a Pixie design tweak!

I’ve actually been debating whether I should try a Pixie design more along current ‘rules’ with the hairstyle being part of her carapace, or just say ‘hell with it’ and keep the old hairstyle...

...and then I realized I could give her fluff EVERYWHERE dragonflies have it.

Other tweaks: made her head closer to the trapezoid shape of real dragonflies instead of circular, gave her eyes a little more real estate on her head, allowed her mandible-fangs to be visible when her mouth is closed, and made her torso a bit stubbier so that all of her body length is in her tail. And made her ‘muzzle’ bit the yellow of her markings instead of the peach I was using as well as made the purple of the fluff a little less saturated.

Overall I think she came out a good 40% cuter.

Boom outfits are weirdly hard to figure out but I deny the existence of a world where Chuck doesn’t wear Hawaiian shirts. And Dusty gets the sports tape because he’s an athletic dude. Probably Chuck’s a local mechanic/inventor who mentors Tails while Dusty acts as a patrolman looking for bots in remote areas and supplies Chuck with coffee. It’s unclear whether they’re actually related to anyone on the island, but the nature of Boom being what it is even Eggman probably calls them ‘uncle’.

Where Pixie is earnest, friendly, and sometimes blurts secrets where she really shouldn’t, Priss is calculating, reserved, and happy to spread those secrets to the right people. Probably has a slightly antagonistic relationship with Miles, who tolerates her because she’s unobtrusive and dishes good dirt.
