ive been meaning to draw one of @kismeti 's ocs since artfight! i actually nearly had a sketch of V started before irl stuff came up and i was only able to do a couple attacks/revenges, whoops
then a couple fun things happened: blake posted art of a cool new oc, and i remembered i ALSO have an oc that's an asshole bird scientist! so here's brenlo wondering if he could pull off a moustache, i guess
i need to draw my ocs interacting w other peoples' more, its always super fun
@kismeti and I talk about ‘what if’ scenarios with our OCs often, and we’ve come to the conclusion that Storm is mostly made of things that stress V out
More work scribbles!! I want to do more with characters interacting as well as being less fretful about how something is turning out, and ballpoint helps with both. So random interactions between Dusty and @kismeti 's Ricochet (pre-mission photo and I feel they have similar owo energy), Kara with @pidgeonspen 's Ileana (both raised to be the Perfect Soldier to the detriment of everything else), and Pixie with @sege-h 's Storm (...she thinks he's neat and he wants to know Whose Kid This Is).
All three of these characters have great designs and I want to draw more sonics, so *jazz hands*
5. When one of them has a bad day, what does the other do to help cheer them up?
Jace often tries to help Gambit unwind and genuinely talk about things. Once Gambit’s PTSD sets in after he uncovers his repressed memories, I imagine Jace takes to staying up with the weasel when the nightmares get bad, putting up a pot of coffee for them both and being there, whether Gambit wants to talk about it or get his mind off of it, letting Gambit lay his head against Jace’s chest if he’s up for physical contact and playing with the weasel’s hair while they just... talk about things. Anything and everything.
When it’s not related to his trauma and if Gambit’s just having A Day, Jace invites him for a drink and/or a smoke, maybe tries to cheer him up with a few bad jokes and quick, stolen kisses on the weasel’s neck until he relents and feels better.
Nutty once mentioned the idea that, were Jace ever to be seriously disheartened, Gambit might actually try to bring up all the good Jace has done even if it’s something Gambit himself once talked down to Jace about and comforting people really isn’t something Gambit knows how to do.
10: What is a small thing that one another does to make their partner happy?
Jace invites Gambit to play with any new inventory he gets for his shop. New gun models, mods, ammo, you name it. I imagine in general, once they’ve truly settled into their relationship, Jace spoils Gambit with nice things. A new suit here and there, lined to protect the weasel during his work. New lighters (this does not stop Gambit from stealing and ruining all of Jace’s).
Started the other one with some basic stats, so here goes!
1. His favorite color is pink, his birthday is December 1, and he’s fifty-one years old! He still expects to have His Day for his birthday. No, he is not too old for that. Gifts are not expected, but you must Acknowledge Him.
2. As sweet and friendly as he is, Dusty is a master of the Minor Irritation. He loves to tease and as long as it’s harmless and no one’s really getting upset he will do random silly things just for the reaction. @gojira007‘s Valir once expressed annoyance at him referring to and addressing Sally as ‘nutkin’ (”you can’t call our Princess that”) so now it’s pretty much the only thing he ever calls her. (If Sally herself asked him to stop that’d be different, but I suspect she’d be disappointed if he didn’t call her Nutkin.) He also formats texts like letters because he thinks it’s funny and is waiting to see how long before someone calls him on it. What’s the point of being the Local Dad if you can’t be embarrassing?
3. Related to above and not terribly unusual for a Sonic character, but you cannot stop this dude from mouthing off. He taunts SatAM Robotnik, would absolutely taunt the likes of Mephiles and Infinite, and in an RP (also with @gojira007) shooting him only caused him to lecture the people with the guns on what disappointing jackasses they are even harder. His ability to be annoying has many uses!
4. He has hearing loss and could probably benefit from hearing aids; being around explosions on a regular basis will do that. He also has tinnitus in his right ear.
5. He’s farsighted and will sometimes take his glasses off if he does need to use a firearm.
6. He has arbitrarily refused to even try iced coffee, but he loves frappes. No he is not being hypocritical, shush.
7. Despite having fairly thick, plush fur, he doesn’t like cold weather. Spring and summer are the proper seasons thank you very much! Inclement weather in general drives him up the wall; he gets stir crazy fast.
8. One of the reasons he was placed in martial arts as a child was an effort to give him an outlet for his energy and rein in a ferocious temper - he used to get in fights all the time. It worked - he’s still energetic but has his temper mostly under control, though under the right conditions he can still go nuclear. If that’s the case he goes into a very focused Destroy Mode and it takes someone close and determined, or an overriding goal like protecting said close people, to get him out of it.
9. He has an impeccable sense of direction - he developed it growing up on a farm, where he had to navigate through fields of plants that very quickly grew over his head. It’s very difficult to get him turned around; once he decides on a direction to travel in he heads that way unerringly, even if he has to detour around obstacles along the way.
10. He habitually grinds his incisors - it helps keep them from getting too long (since they grow continually) and is also a good indicator of mood. If he looks relaxed and is gently grinding them, he’s totally relaxed, but loud or harsh means he’s annoyed or distressed. He’s taught himself not to do it as a pain response, but might occasionally do it anyway if he doesn’t have a particular reason to put on a bold face.
