Wait, how do we know that it's the only land left on earth? Other landmasses wouldn't be relevant to the story obvs, but is it stated anywhere that that's the case?

according to sensei’s words (ch 1), the island the gems live in is the only piece of land left on planet earth and all life fled to the ocean. ofc it might also be that sensei is lying or isnt aware of other islands and lands on other parts of the planet.

in ch 55 aechmea shows phos the earth as seen from the moon and we get a few panels featuring the planet. still, its very hard to tell whether the differences in color are due to clouds alone or to the alternation of land and water and you can zoom in only to a certain extent

Quick fyi about the billion years thing you tagged under the land post: According to our current understanding, the sun will start expanding in ~5 billion years, and will engulf the earth within ~7.5 billion years from now. So HNK taking place 3-4 billion years later doesn't conflict with that
