i think what I love best about ash's characterization in the sun and moon anime is how sweet and excitable he is.

hes so full of joy and compassion for both people and pokemon.

The somewhat sexist features of his past adventures have been unlearned and now he's so feminist.

Being there for his female friends when they want to do more traditional feminine things and not making comments.

And being so overjoyed for the profs when they get married. None of that 'ew girls and marriage' nonsense.

Not to mention he hasn't been rewritten as clueless.

he's retained his skills in battle, but he also is uncomfortable with book learning. A trait from season 1 and very true to his character.

he's such a kind-hearted boy and I think that's why the legendary Pokemon are so quick to pick him as a champion.

It's not like the old days when he was kind of dumb and a bit selfish.

He's really come into his own as both an excellent trainer and a well-rounded good person.
