Ancient Grandma and Stubborn Child

Bede and Opal - an unexpected duo, but a completely compatible one. With a wise old lady and one stubborn child, they make a perfect, if a bit strange, familial image.

Opal first trains Bede to love fairy type pokemon, especially since he took a liking to mostly psychic pokemon.

But I like to think Opal just kind of took him around Ballonlea, and showed him aspects of fairy type pokemon that allowed him to see just how special they were.

Bede hated the uniform at first, but Opal knows that he was just always reluctant at first because the items were given by her. Pride and all that.

Bede obtains the biggest soft spots for the fairy pokemon, but never shows it when Opal is around. Has to have some dignity left in him.

On peaceful days when they have not much else to do, Opal would tell him her childhood stories and her own adventures. Bede over time showed great interests in these stories, and would often find some useful morals and lessons.

Despite her old age, Bede learned to never underestimate her. After losing to her many times, he’s learned that he has a looooong way to go before having true ownership of the gym leader title.

Opal tried dyeing Bede’s hair pink once. It didn’t go over too well.

“It will help you connect to the fairy typing!”

“AWAY! AWAY YOU CRAZY OLD BAT!”

Bede has gotten lost plenty of times in the forest and Opal always manages to just. somehow. find. him.

Opal makes Bede run many errands— sometimes for good reason and sometimes for the heck of it. While Bede doesn’t enjoy this task much, he admits it’s always a unique adventure.

Bede would be taught by Opal some flashier and elegant poses, just as an added flare. Sometimes she’d spot Bede on the sidelines of one of her practice matches, copying her.

The scarf is soft. Bede must pet. But only once a day. Because Opal won’t let him. Might get dirty.

Sometimes Opal buys items that seem incredibly useless and gived them to Bede. It surprises him more when he ends up somehow needing them afterwards.

“What’s this?”

“A knick-knack paddy-whack. You’ll need it.”

“?????????”

Sniffles And Quilts - Part Three

HOP:

THE biggest whiner when it comes to being sick. Just like his older brother, he’s really needy for affection.

Will groan in the face of sunlight, and would hide underneathe his blankets. Hop also hates the taste of medicine, and would adamantly refuse. To be fair though, at least he doesn’t run away, like Piers.

Not a tissue horder, but will use quite a bit more than what he would expect. Still doesn’t use as much as his brother. Hop also gets tired super duper easily, and would yawn frequently.

As such, Hop would usually be found sleeping with his Wooloo, and Leon can be found leaving small bits of food or snacks for Hop every now and then. When he wakes up, Hop gives Leon the biggest hug of thanks.

BEDE:

Although it’s not exactly pleasant to be sick, Bede likes to use it as an excuse to do absolutely nothing for a few days. Sorry Opal, but this boi is out of comission.

Surprisingly gets very cuddly while sick, and has trouble sleeping if he’s not hugging something while he snoozes. It’s nice and comforting to him, and makes him feel safe.

It does become a problem though, because Bede gets very hot, and would have to dress very minimally if he doesn’t want to completely melt. So basically, he’s a fan horder, and will conjure the power of the winds to cool him down.

The type to drink acidic drinks despite various warning from Opal. Then would suddenly question why his voice was scratchy and disappearing. Opal can be heard cackling in the other room.

MARNIE:

Marnie gets taken care of by her brother a lot. She’s like Morpeko when she’s sick, getting various different mood swings. She’s also like Piers, but double the destruction.

Flails around in her sleep. Piers had to check her temperature at some point in the night, and just got back-handed by a completely unconscious Marnie. She had no recollection of it though, and Piers has gotten a bit more wary when she’s asleep.

Gets the worst loss of voice, and would rely on Piers’ homemade soup. It’s not the best, but she appreciates it, and does the job well.

Will probably try to eat junk food when Piers isn’t looking. When she does get caught though, Piers just kinda smacks her hand away. Bad Marnie. No snack for you.

How would the SwSh characters react to them realising that their friend always seems to put them first? Spending time with them, helping them with tasks, checking in on them, tending to them when they're sick but forgetting to really take time for themselves. I tend to have a bad habit of it and I'm trying to retrain myself and ignore the feeling that I'm being 'selfish'. That said please take care of yourself too, we know you have other obligations so take your time.

God, I hope you know this ask made me smile very wide. You are not selfish, anony, if anything, you are very selfless and kind. Take care of yourself as well. :)

Greatful Gestures - Part One

MILO:

He’s be the fastest to come to this conclusion out of everyone else, seeing as he himself seems like someone who is very generous and giving, caring for others around him, before giving any thought to himself.

Milo would always take into note whenever his friend would come by and help him with his farm, while he’s off on gym duties, or to ask whether he was feeling well, when visible fatigue lingered around his friend.

He’d feel very surprised at first, but then he’d feel guilty, as he thinks his friend has some sort of obligation. Milo would make sure his friend knows they’re cared for just as much as they care for the him.

NESSA:

Nessa wouldn’t be too observant into noticing her friend’s actions straight away. She isn’t blind, but she didn’t think that her friend would be neglecting their own needs for the sake of her own.

When she realises how much her friend had given and provided for her, Nessa would feel very flustered, yet angry at herself for not being able to reciprocate the same amount of kindness.

From then on, before her friend was ever allowed to do anything, she would make sure all of their needs were met, before making sure to give them as much love as possible.

KABU:

Kabu would be against all of the care in the first place. Not in a bad way, not at all, but a “I can take care of myself but I appreciate everything” way. He’ll be quite disappointed if he finds his friend not taking care of themselves first.

I feel like Kabu is a person who values self-care, and would try to show that sort of view to his friend. While he understands it’s their nature, he wants to show how being healthy in self can also be a lot more beneficial to others.

A real positive guy. He’ll start to return every bit of kindness shown to him, and would make sure his friend is healthy, or he’ll sit them through another lecture.

BEA:

Much like Kabu, I think she would also value self-care, and how it can not only help the individual, but those around them as well. However, openly shown kindness and care would not be something Bea was used to, and she’d get flustered as the amount of attention her friend was giving her.

But it was only after a small sparring match that she had noticed this selfless trait true to form. Her friend was checking on her injuries, when they were much worse off.

From then on, Bea would be very observant of her friend. And although she may not outright tell them to take care if themselves, Bea can definitely show her own acts of kindness in thanks.

ALLISTER:

Allister seems like the type of kid that prefers isolation man what a perfect time for that, with some of the most exclusive friends he’d ever allow to be near him. So it’d be no surprise if he grimaced at every doting action his friend sends towards him.

But it’s in those moments where he notices how his friend always seemed to value Allister’s feelings and likings, and would abide by it, even if it meant leaving him alone. And Allister’s not blind. He knows care when he sees it, and it’s overflowing from his friend.

So he’s patient. Even if he can never outwardly announce his appreciation or care, he can hold. He’ll show his appreciation, even if it only seems like toleration at first, he’ll show himself more, day by day.

OPAL:

Old grandma would be quick to notice the behaviour of her friend. She’s known at least one of every kind of person, and knows a rare gem when she sees one.

While she does enjoy the pampering and the kindness, she’ll still have this little tug of guilt that pulls within her chest. But Opal is determined, and won’t allow her friend to lack the care that they deserve.

Sometimes her friend will visit Opal, and she’ll have some homemade cookies. If Opal was invited over to her friend’s home, they might end up getting their laundry done. Maybe even get their own pampering.

GORDIE:

This absolute papaya. After a few weeks of being his friend, he’d know immediately a selfless individual when he sees one. While his form of care and encouragement differs from his friend, he’ll argue that it’s fairly similar.

As soon as any bit of kindness is shown to him, he’ll send it back immediately. It’s a give and receive thing. Gordie is just the type of person to not accept kindness unless it can be returned.

So he makes sure that his friend handles themselves well, even if he has to do the caring himself. If his friend has got his back, he sure as hell has got theirs.

New Years, New Romances

MILO:

Milo would have a very shy confession of asking S/O out while watching the New Year Fireworks. It’s very cheesy, but he says that his New Years Resolutions include being able to win S/O’s heart.

At the end of the New Years countdown, S/O can only focus on Milo as he cheekily says: “Let my resolutions begin”, and kisses their hand shyly.

NESSA:

Nessa’s quite the party animal, so it’s odd when S/O sees her unusually quiet, stammering and shifting in posture. She says she’s hoping for something new for 2020.

What S/O didn’t expect, was for Nessa to hold their hands, stammering a rushed, but heartfelt confession as midnight strikes. It makes them smile. What a ‘new’ year indeed.

KABU:

Would hold his S/O’s hand throughout the whole countdown, which S/O thought Kabu was only doing as to not have them fall on their stupid drunk butt.

S/O went sober for five minutes after they feel Kabu’s small kiss upon their cheek. Even the loud cheering of the crowd couldn’t drown out the beating of their own heart.

BEA:

Bea doesn’t even participate in the New Years countdown, but only seemed to be staring right at her S/O, as if she was waiting for something. When the countdown starts...

“Before the next year begins, please allow me to be the one you’ll love as it starts.” When the confession and countdown ends, S/O just melts with joy.

ALLISTER:

A shy boy of nocturnal blood naturally has the most energy at midnight, so it’s no wonder both him and his S/O are staying up late at night.

Loud noises make Allister flinch, so fireworks are a no go. Instead, he confesses to his S/O while stargazing. And as the clock strikes midnight, and his S/O embraces him tightly, Allister can’t help feeling like the luckiest boy in Galar.

OPAL:

Opal’s had many years of her life wasted with potentials of forgotten love and sorrow. So when she had met S/O, she knew they were different.

She’s bold in confessing; years of waiting can do that to a woman. So if her simple confession is accepted at the stroke of midnight, she’s ready for da smooch.

GORDIE:

Gordie is very suave as he confesses on the countdown. He seems so compossed as he holds his S/O’s hands, and tell them that he wants to start the year off with them in his arms.

After the embrace and adrenaline rush though, S/O has to calm him down because he’s screaming externally and wants the ground to swallow him whole.

MELONY:

Interlaces hands with her S/O, as the usually composed woman sways their arms in silence. She starts with a quiet, but heartfelt confession, and she’s scared of the response.

S/O was different from everyone else she had met, and she didn’t want to ruin it. So it brought so much joy to her when her S/O held her in their arms at the stroke of midnight.

PIERS:

Usually spends New Years alongside Marnie and S/O, and no one else. So it’s quite a change in atmosphere when Marnie seems to be no where in sight, and the stage seemed to be lit.

Piers then comes out to perform a song only for his S/O, ending exactly on the countdown. His heart soars, and he lets out the biggest genuine smile that he hasn’t shown in quite a long time as his S/O leaps into his open arms.

RAIHAN:

Is on a stream with his fans as the New Years ends, which is no surprise to S/O. But when S/O noticed Raihan put away his phone, they thought he had gained a fever.

But Raihan lets out the softest confession possible, a complete contrast to his usual energy, and S/O can’t help but accept. Celebratory photos are mandatory though.

LEON:

The boy, the mad lad, the dunce— Leon, is a big puppy. Would invite you to a beautiful large field as the sky is littered with stars. And proceeds to get lost.

After a while of yelling at Leon through the phone, he find his way over to his S/O, and they both let out such dorky laughs about the whole thing. As 2019 starts, for Leon, a new romance blooms in 2020, and he caresses his S/O’s face with much love and care.

HOP:

This boy would constantly lose his courage and words, to the point it’s almost impossible for him to confess. He finds S/O’s beauty so breathtaking, and he doesn’t want S/O to look down on him if they reject him.

At the very very very last second of the New Years countdown, Hop blurts out loudly to his S/O that he loves them, which garnered a few giggles from the surrounding crowd. And Hop could not have sighed louder from live and relief as his S/O giggles back their own proclamation of love.
