Another Dog Toy Review: Planet Dog Snoop and Nook
So I got a Snoop a couple weeks ago and a Nook last week. So far I like them. Mud likes them. Tru likes the Snoop. Anza likes the Snoop. Haven’t given Sirius a shot at it yet.
This is the Snoop. It’s flexible and you can pull the center out as seen in their product video, which makes it pretty easy to wash out. It’s also pretty big.
I like treat toys that Mud has a hard time sending flying, which this shape prevents. Sure, he could still throw it if he wanted, but it’s big so he has a hard time getting the grip to do that. He has to work for one. Truly was able to manipulate it with her paws and push it around. Anza was able to use it her first session with treat dispensing toys, so I’d say it’s got a good balance of difficulty and ease.
You can stick a Nook in the center for additional challenge. I tried this the other night with Mud and he was having a hard time. We were in my room, which really wasn’t the best place to try it. He wasn’t able to get the Nook out of the center and started to get frustrated. Eventually I took it out and he wanted to play with the Nook. I noticed after he got it all slimy, it went in and out of the Snoop easier. The next day I put a little water on the outside of the Nook and Mud was able to get it out himself. I’ll probably stop doing that as he figures the game out. I put a little peanut butter in the Nook and so he spent time licking that out before starting on the Snoop.
Mud really liked the Nook as a ball. It’s his favorite 2.5″ diameter and squishes. I thought they looked firmer in photos, but the one I got is soft. Not a problem, since Mud likes it. The only downside in Mud’s opinion is that it doesn’t squeak, so he still likes the Kong Squeezz ball better. Not seeing it take any damage from Mud’s playing yet.
Random other things: Both items smell minty. I guess it’s part of Planet Dog’s Orbee-Tuff material formula. They attach the tags with those plastic tag attacher things and you should check the online tips on tag removal before removing. I cut the tags off and had to dig the ends out.
