Since she's been officially revealed in the fics now, I went about actually drawing her a reference.
Esse (Ess-ay) is Mother Nature to Sonic's world, essentially. Based off of the Planet Egg from Sonic X—
—she is the keeper of the planet's life energy that allows for the plants and animals on her surface to thrive. As such, her "physical form" has attributes of both plant and animal. Motherly, gentle, patient, but also has her moments of fury. She is especially maternal towards Chaos, the youngest member of the Upper Council, and encourages them in their task as the Guardian of Chaos, even relinquishing some of her realm of influence to grant them power over the planet's seas to an extent.
Out of all of the members of the Upper Council, she is the only one to never show her true form to the mortals, instead only taking on the form of the stone within her chest.
She owes Sonic a great deal for rescuing her after the Metarex stole her and her fellow planet-kin away from their realms, and has referred to him as her "little demigod" before. What this implies is left to speculation...

Dear Diary,
Today, I had the brilliant idea of collecting all the Planet Eggs in the universe and using their power to conquer the world! I sent my badniks to every corner of the galaxy to search for them. However, I soon discovered that the Planet Eggs were guarded by some powerful creatures who refused to give them up. I mean, who cares about the fate of the universe when you can have unlimited power, am I right?
But these creatures were no match for my genius and my army of badniks. One by one, we defeated them and collected their Planet Eggs. I felt invincible, like nothing could stop me now.
That is, until I met this pink hedgehog and her friends who also wanted the Planet Eggs. And to make matters worse, they kept foiling my plans at every turn! But I won't give up that easily. I will get those eggs and rule the world!
On another note, I must say these Planet Eggs are quite fascinating. They seem to have a mind of their own and can even control the weather. I should have thought of this earlier. Maybe I can use them to create my own weather machine and finally get rid of that pesky blue blur for good!
