How to create the kamea part 2 (evens)
Most people have heard of the planetary seals, and discarded them or use them as a spell component or whatever. I don’t blame you, they don’t seem to be tied to anything in particular.
They are. At least the Saturn, Jupiter and Mercury ones are. I think that the other odd numbered seals are deliberately incorrect to hide some of the kamea.
Their is no basic for even kamea. You have planetary seals that act as maps. Apart from a little guidance that is all you get. I am not surprised that so few people realise the seals are directly tied to the creation of the grid.
Jupiter first. Until you become practiced you will need to make two grids, one is numbered in a standard bottom left to top right fashion as per below, the other for now is blank.
Now draw the seal of Jupiter over the filled in template. I hope you know what the seal of Jupiter is. It is a big x, google it. The plan is to move the numbers according to the lines so that they swap run in the opposite direction. I do this by mentally folding the grid, a trick which will help incredibly when it comes to the 8x8 grid. So the 1 swaps with the 16 and the 6 and 11 swap. Then the 4 and 13 swap and the 7 and ten. There are different versions of the Jupiter seal, most have little dots or semi circles in the gaps. I figure these originated as a marker to indicate that some numbers do not move and became stylised as the image passed through many hands. So the numbers in the left, right, top and bottom remain in the same position.
That is how the seal of Jupiter creates the kamea.
Mercury is a bit trickier, you know the seal of Mercury? It is a bigger x, with each leg turned into an x and some little doodads thrown in to indicate which numbers do not change positions. Once adept you will be able to just fill out an empty grid. Start as with Jupiter.
Now draw the seal of Mercury over the filled in template and begin as you did with Jupiter. The first part is easy, the main x.
Now for the remaining lines in each corner. Remember I mentioned folding the grid mentally? This helps here because you fold it twice (along the daigonal lines please.) Practice with some scrap paper, or develop a different way of figuring it out. It might a person with a different cosmology to imagine a mirror along the center diagonal, and then along the other center diagonal.
Anyway here is a visual of the actual movement. The 5 first swaps along the line with its opposite, 32. Then it swaps again with its new opposite, 60. It might me be easier if you just make the move more direct, as in the second example. It all comes down to the way your brain works as an individual.
Do this with every number on the four smaller diagonal lines. This will leave you with the numbers which remain in the same position. Fill in the blanks. Not that on the seal of Mercury these numbers have doodads on them, the form of which changes depending on creative license.
Now you can create talismanic kamea on the fly without googling first. Or so you thought! The Sun kamea yet remains, and it is a doozy. That will come in a third installment tomorrow, because I am so over windows paint and grids.
You need to buy some grid paper and make these. Without practice you may forever be stuck copying them line by line from another source. Get used to the mistakes and over come them, because when you make spell and slap out a kamea just like that *clicks fingers* it impresses the universe and your spell will rock.
If you get it wrong in the middle of a spell because you haven't practiced hard enough you will be cursed with a flaccid penis hanging over the left shoulder. Don't look or it will slap your cheek.
