Black Book Tour

A couple people have asked me about my Book and the features it has, so here we go :3

It is essentially this; a Voyager notebook. It's modular and uses elastic bands to hold the little notebook inserts in place. I used to have a really thick junk journal, but it was just very cumbersome to transport and wasn't practical in a lot of other ways. I was really inspired by reading @cafeconbrujeria posting about their Book. I believe they said that the book should be the only item they absolutely need to pack when traveling (or something along those lines), and that's definitely carried over into my own practice.

I also have a lot of fun extras like these little charms I put on the elastic that holds it shut. Fortune and the Star, both for my Fairy Queen. POCKETS. oh my god I love pockets and inserting things. very Practical Magic, very Charmed. Voyager notebooks come with this little panel that has a ziplock in the front and two pockets in the back. The front currently has some paper poppets, red and black thread. usually there will be some mini scissors and notecards there too but they're not there right now.

Back pocket: two protective talismans copied out of Discoverie of Witchcraft. plus a portable necromancy circle, because sometimes the graveyards are occupied and you have to work at home.

I have so many inserts and I am actively choosing to not stop (not pictured: the three that are in the book currently)

I do categorize and have one insert for each topic (you can see I have labeled them variously spells pt 1, spells pt 2, tools/land/correspondence, etc.). but this is more of a commonplace book than a finished product so there's a bunch of random stuff in here that I'm working on currently. Yarrow charm from the Carmina Gadelica that I really liked. Shiny foil for mirror spells and scrying. Calendar insert with lunations and days of power. Pages detailing some potions I bought from sphere and sundry. A half-complete spread about attraction and love spells (and a 4 of spades in case I need to break any spells of that type)

Also there's a lot of tables and practical stuff, like this flight tracker that I just started. Testing out various methods of witch flight and finding out which works best for me at any given time.

Also also I adore junk journaling still so this book is full of stickers and pasted in scraps. It's really easy to add materia from magazines and books and such with this method, and maybe even spells if they're thread spells or a container spell with a thin envelope or something. And the elastic on the outside keeps everything compact so it doesn't expand into oblivion.

This post is long enough already so I will cut it off here and probably make a part 2 later if there's interest for it. Lots of pictures and lots of info but I love my Book, and trust me, if we were meeting in person I would ramble on for much longer. The Black Book by itself is such a cool bit of worldbuilding and witchlore, it's great :)
