Planning my Strixhaven fic also means planning what Will and Rowan are going to do- which is, of course, be aggressively bisexual. Like Rowan overhears Rootha talking to Felisa and its super obvious they're exes but not on the best of terms, and Rowan doesn't even think to introduce herself to Rootha once the coast is clear, she's just like "do you want me to beat her up for you?" Like she's immediately ride or die because she's just that smitten.
Gjhgfhjhfhjj y'all shit I gotta write this down, I am full of emotions and am going to explode.
Both Liliana and Garruk are responsible for the deaths of innocent planeswalkers- both due to situations out of there control, but in the end it was their doing- and I feel like that could really lend itself to a key bonding element and I am just upset we'll never actually see this particular interaction in canon and, once again, I must do everything myself.
Like, hghhjff, Garruk finds out about the part Liliana played in WAR, and he's expected to hold her crimes against her, but he can't bring himself to because he's just as guilty and ghghghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh nobody touch me, NOBODY TOUCH ME!!!
You got Liliana "I give playfully mocking nicknames to the people I orbit around" Vess and Garruk "change is difficult who the fuck is Ana Iora" Wildspeaker, and together I have on my hands a "calls you by your actual/desired name during a dramatic/meaningful moment" Wombo Combo!
Okay, okay, this literally just fully formed in my head, so I gotta write it before it devolves into bubbles and I forget it!
Killian Lu Rewrite version 1.0, for my ridiculous Strixhaven fic: Killian is one of the top Silverquill students, the pride of his father, Embrose Lu, the Silverquill Dean, the envy of most of his peers and the ovject of affection of the rest. HOWEVER, Killian doesn't strive for success for reasons that would be obvious- making his father proud, academic success, or even for a future he has in mind. Killian rises to the top for a single, secret purpose: revenge.
Killian had a childhood friend, a few years his senior, who attended Strixhaven, who was killed in a confrontation involving the Oriq the school attempted to cover up- only somewhat successfully since a then un-enrolled Killian was able to uncover the cause of death. Deciding to take matter into his own hands and avenge his beloved friend, Killian learned all he could about the secret society despite how dangerous it was. Once he was enrolled at Strixhaven, he began his plans and made a name for himself at the school, knowing full well that it would be only a matter of time before the Oriq would attempt to sway him to their side- and then, and only then, would he be able to put his plans into action.

Getting a chance to write Garruk just going full apeshit. Like, I have legitimately never gotten the chance to write a character who is just berserker af. Everyone is a strategist who precisely fights and uses speed and magical skill to get the upper hand. Everyone is exchanging witty battle dialogue. I just want to write a character who has a ridiculously bigass weapon and fucks shit up through pure, brute strength for once. Wanna smash!!!!!
You know I'm out here, complaining about Liliana wanting to play God an resurrect Gideon, but y'all also know my ass is like "thanks, some of my questions have been answered now and my rewrite has that much more direction". I'm just bitching for the pure thrill of the bitch.
Like this week I found out I'm gonna have to put a lot more effort into the "Give Liliana a Reason to Be There" front and I became almost positive I'm just gonna write Lukka out, like I'm sure now. It's all progress in the end for me, all good things, even though they ANNOY ME.
You would think that Lukka being the one controlling Extus' army of mage hunters would put me in a tight spot, since I plan on writing him out in my re-write. Like, surely, he's a big enough piece in the villain's plot where he simply cannot be removed.
I can assure you I have an idea for that as well. It's gonna involve sort of tweaking what mage hunters are, I think, but I have a lot more significant plans than "nasty bastard man can just Do That".
Would this hypothetical rewrite of Killian have him be strictly by the book when dealing with the Oriq, in that he only uses the spells that are generally taught, just at a higher level of skill, or does he use Oriq methods himself, gathering knowledge deemed "forbidden," just aiming it at a different target than they do? Is revenge an element that hardens him or does it make him reevaluate himself? (Also...did friend actually die, or is that just how they refer to students who become Oriq?)
Still working out finer details and stuff, admittedly, I was being literal when I said I just came up with this and had to write it down because my memory is Bad™. I imagine he'd probably be an "any means necessary" sort of guy, who isn't above "forbidden" magic if it will help. I wouldn't say revenge "hardens" him, exactly, I think him dedicating himself to something so deeply private and dangerous would sort of make him feel distanced from his peers, like there's the surface Killian who everyone knows, and the deeper Killian who doesn't want anybody else involved, lest they wind up getting hurt because of him. If that makes sense. It will definitely be apart of his overall arc, this is just set-up.
Whether or not the friend actually died is open to being played with, as a vehicle for drama.
