This tofu steak recipe offers a savory and satisfying alternative to traditional meat-based steaks. Marinated in a flavorful blend of soy sauce, maple syrup, and spices, these tofu steaks are grilled to perfection, resulting in a deliciously charred exterior and tender interior. Topped with toasted sesame seeds and fresh green onions, they're packed with both flavor and nutrients.
Ingredients: 2 blocks tofu, extra firm. 3 tablespoons soy sauce. 2 tablespoons maple syrup. 2 tablespoons olive oil. 1 teaspoon garlic powder. 1 teaspoon paprika. 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. 1 tablespoon sesame seeds. 1 tablespoon chopped green onions, for garnish.
Instructions: Press tofu blocks between paper towels to remove excess moisture, then slice each block into thick steak-like pieces. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, maple syrup, olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, and black pepper to make the marinade. Place tofu steaks in a shallow dish and pour marinade over them, ensuring each piece is coated. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes. Heat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Brush with olive oil to prevent sticking. Carefully place tofu steaks onto the pan and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until grill marks form and tofu is heated through. While cooking, sprinkle sesame seeds over the tofu steaks, allowing them to toast slightly. Once cooked, remove tofu steaks from the pan and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
