Why not give your pets a break and pamper your plants instead? I took this 'Kiwi' Dracaena marginata out of its pot and saw this. A lot of roots circling the pot. It is time to up-pot. What is the difference between up-potting and repotting? If I were to just take this plant out if its unattractive grow pot and put it in the same size decorative pot, it would be re-potting. But this plant needs a bigger home, so I'm up-potting it to the next size pot. Don't pick a pot that is too large or the roots may rot in too much wet potting medium. It also had some brown ends because I had neglected this plant and also its known for doing that. (Another story.) So I trimmed the ends in a way that looks more like the plant tip, not cutting it straight across. The plant looks better and is ready to grow into it's new pot. What are you doing this weekend?
