This room takes my breath away! Interior mouldings, namely plaster cornices, coving and ceiling roses, are an art form we unfortunately don't see much of anymore. Plaster work from the Victorian and Georgian eras were by far the most ornate, including ribbons and swags, ceiling roses (decoration around a ceiling light fixture) and flowers. The most ornate mouldings in a home were always found in areas most seen by visitors as they were meant to impress! I especially love the juxtaposition of the old with the new in this photo.
