Day 166 of 365 - "Darcy" the legendary plastic cow at the Virginia Beach Landfill. In 1984 a plastic cow was rescued from the trash by landfill employees and named Darcy. She was positioned on the hill looking over the landfill. She was moved around periodically and the landfill received numerous reports of a cow on the loose. She was even stollen once and returned by Chesapeake police. Now almost 40 years later, Darcy still stands guard near the dropoff area at the dump. Source - the Virginian Pilot, article by Patrick K.
