The Kent farmhouse was too quiet.
Which was suspicious, because in a house lived in by one nineteen-year-old who can't even really be classified a man given his attitude, and a currently visiting ten-year-old boy—silence like this didn't come simply.
That was unless they were asleep, they were grounded, or they were doing something stupid outside.
But even then, if one of them were allowed to roam, something usually happened.
"Kon-El?" You called, "Kon-El? Clone?"
You frowned, "Kon-El...?"
Still no response. Until, a soft rustle came from the kitchen.
You turned your head slowly—just in time to see a tiny mop of black hair pop around the edge of the wall.
Jon-El stared at you with wide, guilty eyes and an even guiltier smear of chocolate across his entire face, as if he'd dunked his head inside of a dessert instead of eating it.
"Were you eating your Nana's brownies again?" You asked carefully.
The little boy's face went through all of the stages of grief in two seconds, "I would never!"
You looked down at his jumper that was decorated with brownie crumbs.
Jon zipped across the room before remembering Clark's 'no flying in your grandparent's house' rule at the last second, slowing abruptly to a stop right at your knees.
He hugged you tightly, "I didn't know you were visiting today!"
You melted a little, ruffling his hair, "I wasn't planning on it."
Jon leaned back, hands gripping your sleeves, "Are you looking for Konner?"
"Kon-El," You sighed. You hate how barely anyone calls the other by their Kryptonian names.
"And, yeah. He's not answering my calls, which means he's either busy or ignoring me on purpose again."
"Konn– Kon-El...said that if anyone asked where he went, I'm supposed to say on a flight instead off to Timmy's."
You blinked once, genuinely taken aback, "Jon-El...you just told me where he went."
Jon slapped both hands over his mouth, "Oh my God!"
"He's gonna throw me into the hay stacks again!"
"He wouldn't do that– wait. Again?"
"He did it once because I laughed at his hair."
"Oh...yeah, no, that makes sense."
Jon tugged at your sleeves aggressively, "Please don't tell him I told you!"
"I won't," You promised, patting his cheek gently, "But I'm still gonna go find him. I need his help."
Jon nodded with solemn relief.
"But seriously, go wash your face before your Nana sees you."
"Okay!" He grinned, skipping toward the kitchen sink.
You groaned as you exited the house, not particularly looking forward to the flight to Gotham. You swear you spend more time there than in Kansas and Metropolis combined.
The Manor's outdoor lights were dim, the windows glowing just enough to reflect the clouds overhead. You landed quietly on the steps and knocked once out of politeness before letting yourself in.
"Miss," Alfred greeted, not even looking up from dusting a painting, "Welcome back. What brings you here today?"
"Hello, Alfred," You smiled at the man, "I'm looking for Tim."
"Master Tim is in his chambers," He told you, "I'd make sure to knock before entering."
That feels almost...threatening.
You navigated the halls easily—years of visiting just for fun had taught you the manor like the back of your hand. You lifted a hand and knocked lightly on Tim's door.
You're feeling way too impatient right now, Alfred ominous warning not even registering as you pushed the door open.
Kon was most certainly here.
Very, very close. Also very, very much mid-makeout.
Kon jolted backwards so far he fell off the bed, "We were– uh– studying!"
"Studying for what?! Neither of you study biology in university! And you definitely don't need to be caressing eachother's abdomens for that!"
Tim made a noise that could only be described as emotional flatlining.
Kon scrambled to his feet, hair sticking up in crazy directions, face bright red, "It wasn't– we weren't– it's not– okay it is what it looks like, but–"
You put your face in your hands, mumbling into your hands about how gross it was to find them this way.
Tim exhaled sharply, rubbing his face, "We were going to tell people! At some point! Eventually..."
"Soon enough," Kon muttered under his breath.
You gasped, lifting your head and pointing accusedly, "That's why you keep on running away randomly! You weren't avoiding us– you were making out with Tim!"
"Can you stop talking," Tim hisses, mortified.
You paced the carpet in small, frantic circles, "This is great. This is so great. Kara is going to flip–"
Kon's head whipped towards you, "Don't tell Kara!"
"Yeah! She's busy with Barbara!"
There was a small pause in the room as the words settled in the air.
"And I thought you were the smart one," You said before abruptly turning on your heel toward Tim's window.
Both boys shouted, "Wait!"
You grabbed the latch, shoved it open, and crawled onto the windowsill.
"No! Please! You've always been my favourite cousin!"
Too late, you had already shot off into the afternoon air.
And while the flight to Barbara's apartment wasn't long, it felt eternally longer when your brain kept replaying the image of Kon and Tim disgustingly fused together.
You attempted to scrub the memory out by flying faster. Sadly, it didn't help.
"Ew. Ew. Ew! Alfred warned me! And I just ignored him! I so deserve this," You groaned mid-air, rubbing your palms against your eyes.
The skyline of Barbara's apartment finally rose into veiw and you gently dipped into the alleyway beside the building, the ground of Gotham still smelling like rain from last night's storm.
Thankfully, after the incident, her landlord moved Barbara down to the first floor, so it's not like you had a long way to go.
You knocked on the door, frowning when you were answered with silence.
You knocked again, "Hellooo? Babs? Kara? Are you guys in there?"
You practically bashed the door when you knocked again. Still nothing.
"Weirdos," You murmured under your breath, "Could they have gone out?"
That was when you heard a shuffle. Good, they were still in there. Were they just ignoring you on purpose? What is everyone's issue today?
You let out a small sigh, totally, one hundred percent, ignorant to the puff of ice escaping your mouth and frosting the handle in ice.
You flicked the handle, smiling to yourself when it shattered off.
"Sorry Barbara," You said as you walked into the house, "I'm sure there's a door handle at–"
Barbara was still seated on her wheelchair, her hair slightly mused and her glasses crooked where they lay on her face. Kara was half-hovering above her, face bright and pink and very much looking as though she was in heaven.
Both women jerked like a gun had just been pointed at them when they heard you gasp.
You stared. They stared. All three of you held your breaths.
"Why is everyone making out?!"
Kara's face turned a shade of deep crimson, "Well we weren't– okay, we were. But–"
Barbara just sighed, straightening her glasses as Kara continued to freak out on you, "What do you mean everyone?!"
You slapped your hand over your head, "I literally just found Tim and Kon slobbering all over eachother!"
Kara's eyes widened, "Kon likes boys?!"
Barbara stared up at you with stars in her eyes, "Oh my gosh, thank you so much for making this known. Dick owes me fifty."
You groaned, shaking your head at the both of them, "I can't. I can't. Why are you all philandering? Without letting me know!"
They both just sort of gave you an unapologetic look, Barbara letting out a small giggle at the way you exasperatedly turn.
You opened the half-broken door very carefully, totally ignorant to Kara's please to not tell Clark.
"Are you even listening? Please don't tell Kal-El! Please, please, please! Or Lois! Please!"
